Configuration Code: 1777512

Want to make sure the motherboard is a good choice for the components. Will the onboard wifi be sufficient or should I look at a discrete card?

Thanx

Sufficient for what? What kind of Wi-Fi bandwidth are you requiring? The system build seems to indicate that it will also be performing some server functions.

- The Wireless module is pre-install in the M2_3 (Key-E) slot.
- Supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band (2.4GHz, 5GHz) up to 867 Mbps speed.

If you need more bandwidth/speed, you'll definitely need something better to replace the onboard Wi-Fi.

For the wifi, what I'm really asking is will the onboard wifi really achieve AC speeds? Will a discrete board be significantly better?

It all depends on how much bandwidth/speed you need.
Supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band (2.4GHz, 5GHz) up to 867 Mbps speed. So if you need more than that, then the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 module (optional) might be needed if I'm not mistaken.

Also keep in mind that your top speed is going to be dictated by the slowest device in the chain.
