Vanquish 5 Motherboard?

Ok, so I've spec'd out an upper-end Vanquish 5 but no idea what specific Z170 MoBo I'd be getting. I called DS and they said it's basically "whatever we have in stock". Sorry, but Z170's range in price from $79 to almost $400 and I'd like to know beforehand if I'm getting the cheapest board or not.

If I spec out an Apollo with a Z170-A and everything else being the same, it's over $500 more. Not sure how much of that is for the case and how much for the MoBo.

So my question is, has anyone else on the forum purchased a Vanquish 5 in the past month and if so, which MoBo did you get?

I called the sales team yesterday. They asked around (including supervisor) and could not give me a clear answer. I told them I wasn't necessarily concerned with the brand as much as knowing what the specs were for the particular board.

The top end of the VANQUISH units are with the Z170-E or Z170-A at this time, depending on supply.

Hey Alex, it looks like your information is incorrect. I placed my order assuming I might have a 50/50 chance of getting the "Z170-A" Motherboard. Now that my order is in Stage 4, I just got this email from DS:

Per your comments, you will be getting Asus Z170-E motherboard. The Vanquish does not come with the motherboard you requested.

Please let us know if you have any concerns.

I don't understand what was wrong? We use either version, that's what I clearly stated.

At this time, the team is using Z170A. Customers cannot specify which model for us to use in the VANQUISH as we do not offer that option.

Thanks again Alex, but I received a phone call from DS after the email stating that Digital Storm does NOT use the Z170-A in the Vanguish line period. He said the only option is the "E" board. I've learned my lesson now on ordering without knowing exactly what I'm getting. I've just ordered the Z170-A board from Amazon.com and will swap it out myself when unit arrives. (I need the USB 3.1 type C connector)

I understand, but I think you're still missing my point. You did say that it would be EITHER model, but the build team says the "A" model was NEVER an option, that the Vanquish ONLY comes with the "E" board. Since you said it would deliver with either board, I figured that I at least had a 50/50 chance of getting the board I wanted. Had I known that there was ZERO chance of getting the Z170-A, I might have chosen the Apollo or something else. That's all I'm saying...

We do use the Z170-E and Z170-A as well. It all depends on supply, which changes day to day.
