What software do you all recommend to use for Blu-ray and DVD playback on Windows 8.1?

Cyberlink Power DVD 14 has been recommended here a number of times.

'14 is $32 cheaper than '15 (on Amazon anyways).  Is that why '14 is recommended or is there reason to go with a newer version?

The DVD 12 was recommended, then 14.    Must be when they came out. I haven't used them so just passing along forum feedback.

I've been running 14 since I purchased my Krypton a bit over a year ago.  Plays Blu-rays just fine and haven't seen any need to upgrade to 15.  I think the last version I used previous to that was 9.3 which came with my previous laptop.

Make sure you get Pro or Ultra.  Basic version of PowerDVD will not play Blu-rays, only DVDs.

Thanks for the answers. I went ahead and purchased '14 as it was quite a bit cheaper and I did go with the Ultra version.  The main problem with it was no digital download, but with Amazon Prime, not too big of a deal.
