Will a standard GTX water block fit a MSI GeForce GTX 980 DirectX 12 GTX 980 GAMING 4G 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16.

I know MSI builds their own unit cooling and need to know if a regular GTX 980 water block will fit? Or, are there special water blocks for MSI?

EK makes a custom water block for the 980 gaming 4g.    I can't say for sure, but each card has special needs depending on the placement of the heat sinks and coverage of the vrm and ram.

My guess is no, it won't fit, as least for optimal cooling.

Hi bprat22,

I have never had anything to do with MSI before and wanted to be sure I could get a water block. I went to EK and used their configurator and they had two water blocks for the MSI 4G.

Thanks for your thoughts. They got me to the right place.

Frank

Always a pleasure, Frank.   I have a MSI 970 gaming 4 g and love it.    Never gave MSI much thought until earlier this year.   It's quiet, 0rpm fans and stays quiet even when both fans crank up.    Temps stay in the 60s except one game, Farcry 3.

Have fun.
