Hello I am still saving money for my dream computer. I would like advice and recommendations.
I will be planning to buy a 1 Dell 30" monitor 2560 X 1440 or
Recommend another 30" monitor which is similar in resolution and size.
I would like to experience totally emersive game play.
I enjoy FPS
I will buy bf3 once I get the computer. I would like to playthe game on ultra with highest frame rate possible no lag.
I will try metro 2033 also later on
Also do general web surfing
no video rendering
No fancy video editing
Just Gaming computer
Budget= $3500.00 + or - $300.00
Which configuration would be best for my situation
Will the slade desktop work or
should i go for the Haf x
Did I select the right hardware given the type of monitor I plan to buy?
Please recommend other options if necessary.
Thank you for looking over the two configurations that I worked out
Configuration 1: 695415
configuration 2: 695420

Your first configuration really is spot on. Everything you need to suit your needs, and nothing you don't. You cannot go wrong with the Cooler Master 942 HAF X case partnered with a Noctua NH-D14 keeping things cool. Awesome build you got planned there it should be fun for a long time to come.
Psst* Don't forget your free T-shirt. Edited by NJsteez - 03 Jun 2012 at 1:54pm |

Hi John.... I agree with Njsteez that your first build is right on. However, with the second build and the 240mm rad, DS will mount the rad on the roof, putting the 2 fans on top where there is none. With the gtx 670 cards dumping most of the out the back of the case, even the 550D will work. The Hafx is the best but the 550D will have no problem. My only concern is Metro 2033 playing on Ultra with sli. The game on that monitor on Ultra will dip into the 40 and 50 fps at times. Even BF3 on ultra will drop into the 50's at times. Still great gaming but it depends on your needs.

would 50 fps or less be a handicap when playing would i notice a performance change briefly would there be some lag which would hinder me fragging an apponnent in BF3.
Just wondering never played the game. I only played bf2 in multiplayer i noticed lag.
i have a 2005 sony vaio intel pentium 4 processor codename prescott socket 775 LGA nvidia gforce 8500 GT

I play BF3 with 32 bots and sometimes 64 and in the 50's fps it still looks good to me. BF3 will play 60's on most occasions from benchs I 've seen with sli 670, but dip lower when everything goes to hell, explosions everywhere, etc. Everyone has their own expectations but for me it looks good.
