I bought my Vanquish 3 lvl 4 a couple of months ago. Right now I play GTA V, Shadows of Mordor, and Witcher 3 on it. Should I accept the free Windows 10 upgrade?

Really up to every individual. It's free for a year, so you have plenty of time to decide and to wait for any kinks to be worked out. If you have the icon and sign up, it will download but you decide when to install it.
I'll be upgrading my Win 7 when it hits. Still not sure if I'll do a clean install or just upgrade over what I have to save a ton of downloads and installs. Probably the latter. |

Even though I have 8.1 and am not entirely dissatisfied with it, I'm going to upgrade over it as well. Probably sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure. They claim to give you the start button back, but they really don't. now you just click start and all the tabs are in a small box to the side. I like the old days of browsing through program files.

Anyone that games heavily should upgrade to Window 10 due to DX12 I think. DX 12 will be a solid boost to gaming.

Ahh, good point Dax. I had been wondering what benifits I would get from a new OS. 8.1 supports DX 11 only, yes?

Hi Subxero... DX12 will be exclusive to Windows 10. Better use of multi cores, vram stacking, etc.

Not sure how builders will implement it. My guess is, after July, all the builds will have Windows 10, but don't hold me to it.

As usual, the 'all knowing and all powerful' bprat is dropping the knowledge - lol. I've had a couple of threads on this site with that very question about the Windows 10 availability at DS and received no reply. I was hoping Resellers would have access to Windows 10 a little earlier but I don't think that will be the case...

Just trying to keep up with all you youngsters. Maybe later, Alex can help with this question. I found if you put Alex's name up, he feels the vibes and drops by. |

So are you saying that Alex is actually Beetlejuice? Although, his hearing must be better because you only say his name x1 vs. x3.

Once Windows 10 actually launches we will be offering it. You can already purchase a system now and get Windows 10 anyways when it launches.

I made my 8.1 look like 7. No hurry to try "free" 10. There is nothing free. There is a gotcha down the road sooner or later. MS like apple wants to sell stuff. Ipad takes so may work arounds now that is easier done on a windows laptop. I am afraid MS wants to emulate Apple. Count me so far out.

I still remember the frustration of windows 8.1 before I found Stardock. I wouldn't prematurely upgrade to Windows 10, even if they paid me. I'll postpone this until I'm ready for my next computer and even then I'll be dreading it. It's possible that age is making me inflexible, but who wants their desktop looking like a phone? It's so messy and cluttered. I can't be the only one that feels like this. |

I started with Win-1.1 and then Win-3.1 so I have been using it for a while. Win-1.1 was hardly more than a menu. I don't upgrade every time a new windows is issued and was happy with Win-XP and especially Win-7. Win-7 has been the best of the bunch. I will upgrade to 10 as soon as it comes out. There will be parts of it that I don't like but overall I think it is going to be a winner like Win-7 is. If Win-10 is as trouble free as Win-7 then I don't care what it looks like.

Win 3.1 was my start in Windows, and Win XP was my preferred OS until I got 8.1. Only worked Win 7 at the office and was never a real fan... still not... but that was because I was used to, and relied on, XP.
I'll be upgrading immediately as well. |

Is there anything "special" that needs to be done when moving to W10 with our custom pc? I have 8.1 and I keep getting errors when installing. Getting 0x8007002C - 0x4001E error message and it reverts back to 8.1.

Hi josephlee,
Windows is aware that some levels of 8.1 have this problem. It may be according to what level of 8.1 you have. Windows suggest that you run Windows Troubleshooter for 8.1. You might all ready have it installed. You can do a search on your computer to see if you have Windows Shooter. If not do a Google search for it. If that doesn't help you can do a Google search on "0x8007002C - 0x4001E error message" and find a lot of help. I am not sure I have helped but good luck. I've been reading a lot of articles about windows 10/privacy concerns. Are you guys comfortable with all the talk or is it blown out of proportion?
