I hate to post this because it is talked about on many forums. I plan on buying a prebuilt pc from digital storm in the near future so I want all of the help I can get.
I've always used win7 so this would be a good chance to upgrade to win10, however I don't no much about it. Can somebody give me the pros/cons of win10 compared to win7? I'm looking for both normal everyday use as well as gaming. I see a lot of people that have issues with win10 and it is very concerning. I'm not sure if these are user errors or if it really has that many issues. Is there anything (Specifically gaming things) that I will not be able to do on win10 that I could on Win7? Please feel free to post your opinions or links that helped you make a decesion. Thank you! |

Windows 10 will do everything that Windows 7 was not able to do. Going with Windows 10 is not an issue.
There isn't too much of a change, it will be easier than you think. There are always going to be people having issues with something if you search for it, the large majority are enjoying it without issues. Windows 10 has been out for a long time now. |

I was also hesitant when I purchased my Apollo. I almost went with Windows 7 instead of 10, but I'm sure glad I didn't. I was apprehensive about whether I could set 10 up to look and behave as 7 did, which I really enjoyed. After a little investigation inside 10 and with Google's help, for the most part it's now set up virtually identically as my last Win7 machine was. Desktop is the same, and even though it has those default 10 boxes on the start menu, I never use them because I strictly use the A to Z program menus listed instead. I even changed Win10's default font to one I like! Bye Calibri! lol
So, as a faithful and diehard 7 user for years, I'd say try 10. It's not as scary as I thought it was going to be, and it's pretty easy to modify to get it to look and perform exactly as the OS you want it to. Have fun! Edited by Varl - 16 Apr 2017 at 8:19am |

Varl,
You say you got Win 10 to behave like Win 7 ? I am a diehard Win 7 user and refused the free update when it was offered. I still use gadgets and the snipping tool often. Did you get Win 10 at least approximate those functions? Thanks for any input |

The snippet tool has worked from day one with Win 7 to Win 10 upgrade. Stayed in the task bar. |

bprat22,
Thanks for the input.... "It stayed in the taskbar" must mean you upgraded to Win 10. I was asking about a new computer that comes with Win 10 and if the cutting tool and gadgets were included or if they could be approximated. |

It's not in the Start menu ?
Try typing Snip in search or use this path and shortcut it to desktop......C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe. I haven't tried any of that since I do have it, so hope it works. |

bprat22,
Thanks, I'll try that on my roommate's laptop running Win 10. I also heard rumors that there exists third party software that allows Win 10 to emulate Win 7. I haven't done enough research on Win 10 to know if I'd be willing to give up what Win 10 offers to completely emulate Win 7. I guess I'd better do that research.
