So i heard windows 8 is a memory and processor hog and is isn't a good OS for gaming. Is that true or nah?

Anyone who has windows 8, have you had any issues?

Hi ArkansasWoman777,

I don't have windows 8 but Windows 7 is losing support. So eventually you will have to switch if you want to continue to get security patches to your OS.

Here is a link to a guy talking about using Win 8 for gaming. Some people have a problem with the Metro interface.

Never heard that Windows 8 was any kind of resource hog.  Like FrankW said, the big issues are with the User Interface and that's been mitigated in Windows 8.1 where with a couple of button clicks, you will stay mostly on the desktop and hardly ever see the Modern UI with tiles.

Windows 8 has improved networking, and I love the new Task Manager.  There are several other improvements as well, and if I recall correctly, it was mentioned that it's on par or fractionally better for gaming than Windows 7.

As for Windows 7, Microsoft's current support timeline has patches being issued through January 2020, so several more years of support.  At this point, you could certainly skip Windows 8, but from what I've seen so far, Windows 10 will be an upgrade you'll want to go for.  I'm looking forward to it.

Here is an article about main stream support ending in January 2015 for Windows 7. You will still get security updates for at another 5 years but you wouldn't see Direct X 12. Windows 10 is do out next year and is suppose to combine the best of Windows 7 and 8.1. I personally would wait for Windows 10 to switch.
