I have built so many machines the past cpl of weeks my head is spinning. I orginally started on Alienware site since my past machines were dell xps - no complaints there but I can't say Im feeling good about them(Alienware) - so I started searching reviews and forums for a diff company and DS seems like a great place to consider. My budget would be about $2500 - $3000 - anymore and my wife might shoot me :). I am unsure about the new graphics cards - the sli option - is that a way to future proof your system? I dont want to say I am a hc gamer but Im not casual either. I play most days but I dont do marathons anymore since being married and u know...age - lol. I currently play warhammer online and starcraft II. However, I am so burnt out on those I wanted a machine that would play bf3 and swtor with nice settings. I dont need ultra but I still want to compete nicely. Dont think my 9800gt card - 3.0 duo is up to the task. This machine is about 3.5 yrs old. I would like to get about 4 yrs out of the new pc. I really dont do much on my machines expect the usual surfing and gaming. Can someone give me ideas or point me in a direction that would allow me to enjoy these new and upcoming games and yet still be furture proof for others like GW2?
My knowledge is average so your help would be much appreciated - thx ghost!

There is no such thing as future proofing, you would be as future proof in the future as you would be now if you had sli 9800gt or even sli 275.
the only way to come close to something like future proof would be to allow yourself options for future upgrades, what I mean by that is get a system that gives you what you need now but support more gpus if needed in teh future. or if you have max gpus you need now then upgrade the sli in 2 to 3 years. thats the problem with dell and hp and etc is that their pcs are not really upgradeable, which is why we come here, everything you get here is the same as if we went to the store to build you the pc ourselves, so we can easily change/upgrades parts with these pcs. the difference here between me building you one and DS building you one, is just that, the builder is different, all parts are retail and pretty much the same. Now to tell you what you need, I need to know how much power you need, and to know that I need to know the native resolution of the monitor you gonna be gaming at. |
