Upgrade Memory

Upgrading memory enables a computer to run application much faster. Upgrading computer memory is a slightly tricky job.  Please follow the following stems to perform a memory upgrade:

First of all you need to determine which kind of RAM you need e.g. DDR, DDR2 etc. Moreover if you already have a RAM installed it is recommended that the new RAM module must have the same specifications as the old one and the bus speed should be the same.

Now shut down the computer, remove the devices and cables attached to it and open the computer case.

It is recommended that you should wear a wrist strap, to avoid static charge.

Locate the empty slot where you want to insert the memory module.

Pick up the RAM chip by holding it by the corners; try not to touch the pins. Now locate the already installed Ram align the new module parallel to the previous one, perpendicular to the motherboard. Make sure that white locks, present at each end of the slot, are opened or away from the slot. Now carefully insert the module in the slot, take care that no bottom corner (containing pins) of the chip is outside the slot. Finally the locks will become locked to secure the RAM module; you have to make sure that they are locked. Without the support of these locks RAM module may fall on receiving small shocks.

Try to pull the module outwards to make sure it is stable and successfully installed. Try not to apply too much force.

Now connect all the peripheral devices and cables. Switch on the computer, if you start hearing beeps than your RAM module was not inserted properly. These beeps usually come in long endless loops. Now if there was no problem the computer should boot successfully. Now you can check the increase your memory by going to the general system properties by right clicking My Computer icon. That’s it! Your a upgrade memory pro now!
