Topic: Aventum III Pricepoints? Posted: 13 Jun 2015 at 10:29pm |
Hello everyone! I have seen that the gorgeous new aventum 3 will be releasing this summer, so I have a few questions about pricing. First of all, what were the specs of the aventum 3s showcase in the maximumpcmag video? My second question is will it have a better price point than the current one. I agree its an amazing pc but I built a pc from ----------- that had quad titan X overclocked, 1500i Corsair PSU, 5960x Overclocked, Full watercooling {GPUS and CPU}, 32 gig 2800mhz ram, in a NZXT Phantom case for around 11k. It also included RGB lights, fan controllers, Noise reduction + Lighted 120mm Fan replacement. Now this same build on digital storm is around 12-13k which is a pretty big difference. So I was hoping it could be more competitively priced considering all the competition out there. Thanks for your time :)
P.S. Dont mention how overkill the build I made above is :3 EDIT: Competitor name removed - Alex Edited by Alex - 14 Jun 2015 at 11:38am |

12-13k seems about right. It's a custom case with a bit more water cooling hardware in it (those pieces are not cheap with large mark-ups from the component manufacturers). The Aventum 3 may cost a little bit more than an Aventum II due to the extra water-cooling components for the extra modularity and greater mix of materials (more non-structural acrylic) in the construction of the case. So it'll boil down to what you value in a case and the quality of customer service, which is quite good at Digital Storm.

I understand, but the model I designed was the same price as ---------- with 2 less titan X cards. I just cant understand why it would be +2k. Also is it a fact that the aventum III is more pricey? EDIT: Competitor name removed - Alex Edited by Alex - 14 Jun 2015 at 11:39am |

It will probably cost a little more (not 100% sure, but an educated guess) for the reasons stated above.

First, the case is not well suited for a large water-cooled set-up. There aren't many areas to put radiators with open space to draw in air. Also, it is largely made of plastic, so if you're keen on having a metal case, that isn't the way to go.
You will not be able to add in an audio card or wireless card (well, you can have one with a PCI-e extender, but that would require running a large ribbon cable through the middle of the GPUs to the bottom expansion slot). But, the on-board audio on the motherboard should be just about as good as the sound card (I am thinking your speakers are going to be much weaker than the DAC anyhow) and if you need a 1/4" jack for some nice headphones, look at getting a quality USB DAC/amplifier. The motherboard has on-board 802.11ac wireless capability already, so you aren't gaining much of anything going to a separate card. For a less expensive DS option, you can go with the Corsiar Air 540 or 900 D (Hailstorm II) cases. An Air 540 build will be just under $11.8k after discount: Configuration URL: https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1224562 Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 5960X 3.0GHz (Eight-Core) (Extreme Performance) Motherboard: ASUS X99 RAMPAGE V (Intel X99 Chipset) System Memory: 32GB DDR4 2800MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX (High-Performance) Power Supply: 1500W Corsair AX1500i (Digitally Controlled Power) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: Blu-Ray & DVD Writer/Reader (Burn + Play Blu-Ray & DVDs) (12x BD-R) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (256GB Samsung 850 PRO) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (2TB Western Digital - Black Edition) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 4x SLI Quad (NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB (Includes PhysX) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: HydroLux Level 5: Digital Storm Exotic Custom Cooling System (4x Video Cards + CPU + Chipset) H20 Tube Color:Red Tubing (Requires Custom HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) Chassis Fans: Upgrade All Fans to Corsair Airflow Performance Edition (Up to 6 Fans) Internal Lighting: Digital Storm RGB LED Lighting System (Requires Thermal Management Control Board & Software) Airflow Control: Digital Storm Thermal Management Control Board & Software Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires High-End Motherboard Selection) Boost Graphics Card(s): Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows CD) Virus Protection: FREE: McAfee AntiVirus Plus (1 Year Service Activation Card) (Not Pre-installed) ($35 Value) Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB (Fully Mechanical Gaming Keyboard) (Black Brushed Aluminum Finish) Mouse: - No Thanks Portable Gaming: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 5 Year Limited Warranty (5 Year Labor & 3 Year Part Replacement) Edited by - 14 Jun 2015 at 10:44am |

The AVENTUM 3 is always going to be an expensive product. There are years of design and engineering that went into the AVENTUM 3. Then there are the prototype runs we have made, revisions to fabrication, testing, etc... There is a premium to this type of product as it's on a class of it's own. There's nothing else out there like it.
Yes, you can place high-end components into any chassis, but, if you want an AVENTUM, it's going to not be cheap. We do offer other chassis options like the HAILSTORM II that you could put high-end components in. I hope this help clarify things, we would love to have you as a customer. Just don't want you to feel that it's only the AVENTUM that you need to buy if you are concerned with the premium price tag behind it. Currently our plans are to offer the AVENTUM 3 around the same price as the AVENTUM II. |
