Hey guys. I just wanna say my hailstorm II is still running like a beast 5 years later. Great work by the guys at digital storm the only issue I kinda have now is that I'm running out of room for the Corsair 900d case. Do u guys think it's possible to swap all of the components into a smaller case? I was looking at the Corsair 460X RGB. I kinda like the design of it. Or would it be too much of a Hassel?

Doable, but with the caveat that if you keep the thick 360mm radiator, you'd need to drop the optical drive and hard drive (and switch to an SSD or 2.5" laptop HDD). The radiator would necessitate the removal of the drive cage at the bottom, but once that is out of the way, it is entirely possible.

I can't tell from your pictures whether the pump is a standalone unit, or a 5.25" drive bay unit. If it is a 5.25" unit, you could possibly kludge together some way to make it work, but you may want to look into getting a different pump top and reservoir.

Other than those couple of niggles, everything else should fit in quite easily.

Being 5 years old, if you decide to get a smaller case, I would also update/upgrade some items while you are at it. Good luck.

Here's a few pics of the water cooling setup.

I've thought about upgrading some of the components, but the honest truth is that I don't have as much time as I had before. 5 years ago I had soo much time to game and other stuff. This machine does everything I still need it for, just need it a bit smaller.

Just out of curiosity. Which items would u upgrade 1st?

Since you want to keep simple, the easiest would be the gpu (they have improved a lot in 5 years) since you probably will remove it/them in order to move the mobo. And maybe add some ram (don't know how much you have).

Is there a picture of the front of your case? I can't tell, but I'm guessing that bay reservoir has a DDC-type pump in it.

I currently have 16gigs of DDR3. I think the asus rampage IV extreme mobo  i have doesn't support DDR4, would adding more DDR3 ram really be noticeable?

Also i was looking at a 1070 graphics card, not sure how much better it would be over the titan i currently have in here.

Hi HyDRO,

I'd venture that 16GB for RAM is plenty, even today. I bet you were advised it was more than necessary back then. As to the Titan, I really don't knowIm%20with%20Stupidbut there are way more knowledgeable members that will tell. Which Titan do you have?

This appears to be an XSPC X20 750 Dual Bay that has a submerged pump in it:

This means it will not be easy to re-use the pump. If you want to move your system into a Corsair 460X, you will probably need to get a different pump solution. You could get something like this and mount it to the back of the radiator at the top (using the fan mount holes).

I have the Nvidia Geforce GTX Titan 6GB.

Saw on a benchmark site that some1 with the same setup and with a 1070 had almost a score of 3k more than me. Not sure what that really meansHahaha

Here is comparison between your GTX Titan and a GTX 1070. It looks like the 1070 is somewhat better.

If you went with a solution like the one I mentioned above, it shouldn't be too difficult to upgrade. The G1/4" fittings should be standard, so they should work with the new set-up (however, if you want the look to be the same as your other fittings, you'll want to get a couple more). You'll probably also want to get new tubing, as the tubing runs would be of different length, just make sure to get the same size for both inner diameter (ID) and outer diameter (OD). Finally, you'll want to get some corrosion and algae inhibitor. Ask DS about specifics on the fittings and tube size with your build, they may be able to tell you everything you need to know.

P.S. There's a 10% sale going on this holiday weekend.
