I usually build/upgrade my own.....  then I saw the Aventum III  Drooling

I am considering copper, anyone have any input on that?

I might go with 16GB instead of 32. 32 is an overkill.  I am wondering if DS installs the Corsair fans as an option?  Not sure I want the fans, just curious.

Does DS cover unused slots?

I'm assuming DS builds have zero bloatware?

I'd like this to last awhile and it should.   The case should come in handy for a LONG time.

Money isn't a huge issue IF the value is there.

The PC will be used for gaming, 3d rendering and probably video playback.

Here is my thinking (all from reviews/tech papers), if I've messed up, let me know.

I believe this build provides 40 PCIe lanes and if I'm going to spend that much money, that became a qualifying factor.

The Rampage board has supremeFX, so I went with that board.  I'll get a card if I don't like it I guess.

908 Ti is better value than Titan.

I'm still monitor shopping, right now I'm leaning towards the Philips G-sync monitor.

I'm assuming a build for the Aventum III will be similar to this.

Copper or rigid tube makes it so you cannot upgrade your system as easily.  But, nickel plated copper tubing is really nice, so it's your call.

You can see the slotted PCI brack covers they use here:

Right now 32GB is overkill unless you do a lot of multi-tasking, run large or multiple virtual machines, video editing, or do highly memory intensive stuff (not gaming)...the 3D rendering you mentioned is the only questionable thing.

Yeah, no bloatware.

Your build looks pretty good; that'll be a sweet machine.

BTW...  I did my homework (I hope) and if it wasn't for Digital Storm, I'd be building my own.  I hope I'm right.

Hi yogibear.... Looks like an excellent rig to me.

I can answer a couple of questions..... Zero bloatware, the 5930k is 40 lanes and the 980ti is a better value for most over the TitanX. The TitanX is a few frames faster but not worth it for the extra money in my opinion. If you meant the Titan, still 980ti would be my pick.

Good luck.

Hi yogibear,

Good looking system. The copper HydorLux cooling does make it hard to add equipment to the loop. If you have no plans to add a third GPU then you are probably good. I guess you could get DS to make the additional tubing for you to install.

With HydroLux cooling I would go with the Stage II OC unless you are planning on doing that yourself.

Frank

Thanks guys,  feedback is always helpful.

bprat22, I did mean TitanX.

Frank, I don't plan on putting a third card in.  I wanted 40 lanes though because of the PCI ssd.....  which I forgot to add to this build.  :-)   I want an Intel 750 to replace the Samsung EVO.  That copper sure is sweet and I don't think I'll be adding anything to impact the loop.  However, one never knows.

Will I clock it myself?  It's a Rampage board, I'll have to play with it.  Smile

I do assume the two GPUs will be 16x/16x and the PCIe SSD will run at 8x as long as it's in the 4th slot.

Hi yogibear,

I think the Intel PCIe SSD runs at x4. That is what it is designed for. It does need Gen3 PCIe slot.

Quoted from Intel Spec. sheet.

"Intel SSD 750 Series includes these key features:

 PCIe Gen3 x4 with NVMe interface

 Consistently Higher IOPS and throughput

 Sustained low latency

 Enhanced power-loss data protection"

Yes.... x4

I guess I meant there was 8 left Whoa

That PCIe SSD is awesome, the thing boots before you hit the power switch.   LOL

i really don't see a bottle-neck problem with your proposed setup utilizing 2 vid cards and 1 high speed pcie storage device even in a I7-5820k-based X99 platform.  numerous bandwidth scenarios/tests have confirmed there really isn't a performance hit dropping down from x16 to x8.

the benefits of dropping down to the 5820K:  1) it's cheaper; 2) it generally oc's better (6 cores vs. 8).  you still get the same amount of cache.

if you want better per core performance (and the cash to burn) the flagship 5960X is the way to go.  you can also expand with crazy overkill 4x vid card.

i'm pretty much considering the same type of build.  i've never seen anyone on these boards talk about/review a copper wc build.  makes me wonder if anyone's ever had DS build one like that.  i would love to read about the experience (pros and cons) as i think it looks fantastic (i imagine it as my "Terminator" build) with black sleeved cables from the psu...tight!

I'm going with the 5960x on a x99-e WS.  I'm putting it in a Phanteks Primo case.   I decided to do it myself for a few reasons.

1)  I've waited too long for the new DS case and the Phanteks case blows me away.
2)  I priced it out and I can't spend my 8k budget doing it myself.  I'm trying though.  Big%20Smile
3)  The challenge, I've never water cooled using a custom loop.  I'm going with PETG.

 Take care!
