I thought some of you may find something of interest in the progress of my priority build:

Friday 11/13: I placed my order with a priority build.
Monday 11/16: I made storage and cooler changes to my configuration.
Monday 11/16: I received a confirmation by both email & phone.
Tuesday 11/17: I was informed that the i7 6700k was out of stock and we agreed to special order the CPU and keep the priority build and continue it when they received the CPU in 2-3 days. Cry
Tuesday 11/17: Received a Stage 1: (Payment Processed) notice. Estimated Shipment Date: Up to 4 Business Days (Mon-Fri) from 11/17/2015.
Wednesday 11/18: Received a Stage 2: (Inventory Assignment) notice.
Wednesday 11/18: Received a Stage 3: (Phase 1 Integration) notice. Big%20Smile
Estimated Shipment Date: 3-4 Business Days (Mon-Fri) from 11/18/2015.

Stage 2 and 3 on the same day? Wow Wow

Thursday 11/19: Received a phone call informing me that the Noctua NH-D15 was out of stock until Tuesday 11/24 Upset and I was asked whether I would rather change my configuration to use the Corsair H110i GT - 280mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler instead.

I opted to keep the Noctua for reliability reasons (thank you db188!).
Again, we agreed to keep the priority build and continue it when they received the Noctua.

I do wish that I had been informed of the back order on the Noctua at the same time when I was also informed about the back order of the i7 6700k though. Disappointed

Friday 11/20: Received a Stage 4: (Engineering Lab) notice.
Friday 11/20: Received a Stage 5: (Phase 2 Stress Testing) notice. Big%20Smile
Estimated Shipment Date: 2-3 Business Days (Mon-Fri) from 11/20/2015.

Again, stage 4 and 5 on the same day! Ninja

But I am assuming that the Noctua was received the next day (Friday) rather than Tuesday as expected because I do not see how the build can pass phase 1 and 2 stress testing without it. Confused

Most people complain of the build going too slow and here I am worrying that my build is going too fast. LOL

These last stages are the ones you should care about where they are testing it to make sure everything is working properly. Before then it is just getting the parts together and assembling it, which doesn't take much time at all, if everything is available. They will still give your system the same testing they give others, but the building and assembly was expedited.

Thanks for sharing.   Big%20Smile

Yeah, a lot of others get impatient with the progress, and the wait can be nerve wracking, but DS gets the builds out the door as quickly as they can.  I for one wouldn't want the pressure of complaints or build backups to rush the process.   I'd rather wait several extra days or more than have a part die when it arrives.  PC parts are finicky enough without adding to it by not checking them properly.

Your patience and understanding will pay off real soon.  StrongBig%20Smile

Ah, I would have swapped that noctua for the corsair h100i Gtx or the h110i.

I have an h100i that runs in my guest PC with a 4930k over locked to 4.5ghz. Bought it when the h100i came out and she runs and cools like a dream. Put a h100i GTX in a friends PC and it keeps his 5820k @4.4ghz under 50C at load amazingly. Never had any pump problems or anything, if you're not going to do a custom loop, these corsair AIO's are absolutely spectacular.

I will forever use them if I'm not building my own cooling loops. No hesitation at all.

I will say though, if you have to go air cooler... The noctua is a beast. It's just to big and clunky for me. Aesthetically, it's not for me,

I hear you Meller. Going air or AIO was a tough decision. I kept going back and forth.

I will not due a custom loop nor overclocking on my own though.
Also, I have had two Noctua NH-D14 cooling at 4.4 for six years already at my home and work PCs with no issues and the work PC runs 24/7.
I have not had to even change the fans yet.
I am sure they will last me a couple more years at least.
They are as dependable as a Kalashnikov.

From the reviews, the Noctua NH-D15 will provide comparable cooling to the Corsair H110i GT with less noise and I am not sure if either the pump, coolant or radiator on the H110i will last me eight years like the fans on the Noctua will.
Eight years is how long this build will be in use.

Ultimately, what I want is to not have to open the case on this build for the next eight years except for upgrading the video card every two years. Not sure if going with the H110i will provide me that.

The Noctua sure is ugly though.

you can always paint those fans ya knowWink

i've also had a D14 cooling my rig for the past 5 years.  ugly as sin and huge, but it does the job for mild>medium overclocking.  just can't push the oc, but you can't do that either with a 240mm AIO.  you need a 360mm rad to push past medium as a general rule.
