Budget:
[I wanted to spend around $1200 but am considering saving another $500 for the ultimate.]

Expectations:
[I want to be able to play MMO's (GW2/WoW) on at least high settings if not the best settings and not have to deal with lag when raiding. Especially on world bosses when a lot of people are on the screen. I will also be playing other games like League and would want to feel capable of playing new games when they come out in the future.]

Usage:
[I will constantly be on the computer since I do all of my college work, web surfing, and gaming throughout most of my day.]

Special Needs:
[I need to find the best monitor for my gaming needs. I am looking at these 3 different options. I am leaning towards the Asus 24 inch VG248QE Series.
1.) Acer 24 inch (Widescreen) (Black) (High-Performance Gaming Display)
2.) Asus 24 inch 248 Series (Widescreen) (Black) (2ms Response Time) (LED Backlight)
3.) Asus 24 inch VG248QE Series (144Hz Refresh Rate) (Black) (1ms Response Time) (LED Backlight)
---

[Other than that I am just concerned about quality of gameplay and any overheating issues. What should my expectations be between these 2 setups?]

The monitor gets great reviews other than colors.
For gaming it's great but for photo/video editing not so good.

going by your expectations and concerns, I think you would be happy with this computer but would be a lot happier with the lvl 4.
Better and faster CPU, better GPU with 2x the memory, Stage 1 high performance CPU cooling, OC to about 4.2Ghz and the addition of an SDD for the OS and the main games like WoW would much better handle your plans for the computer.

Like I said tho, the lvl 3 is a nice machine and should be a good fit.

The budget usually wins the argument though.

Thank you Pacesetter, maybe I'll save up for the level 4 then. I have been looking at the differences between the GeForce GTX 960 and the GeForce GTX 970 and the 970 seems a lot better. I guess it would be easier to ask what the main differences between the level 3 and 4 are.

---

1.) I'm trying to justify the $450 difference and any feedback is greatly appreciated.

2.) I'm reading that one of the drawbacks is upgrade capabilities, if someone could please elaborate on that also. Thank you!

3.) I'm not familiar with the OC and SDD, at all. What do they do?

4.) How hard would it be to install a wireless card and what type of wireless card is best?

5.) How many years of gaming should I expect to get out of the ultimate?

Thank you for your time.

The upgrade capabilities is mostly in the motherboard. Number of memory slots, total amount of ram supported, number of connections for fans, HDDs, USB, etc.

OC is overclocking. The stock speed is 3.5Ghz but can be overclocked to 4-4.5 Ghz (usually 4.2).

SDD is a solid state drive. It has no spinning discs and just utilizes memory so is much faster than a normal HDD.

For a wireless card just plug it in and install drivers. If you use wireless all the time I'd install a card. For sometime use a USB wireless adapter can be used ( and can be moved to different computers ). I have 3 computers and only 2 wired with Ethernet so I use the USB wireless adapter on the third and depending on what I am doing on which computer I can switch the USB and Ethernet between machines.

The 960 is only about a 15% performance drop from the 970 but the 2G memory can be a drawback in a lot of games today that push over 3G of video memory used, meaning the computer would use 'shared' memory from the RAM installed for the difference.

I'm planning on getting over 5 years without upgrades but should have this Vanquish 4 for 8-10 years.

The i5-4590 is a locked processor and will not be able to be overclocked (OC). The processors with a "K" or "X" like the i5-4690K in the level 4 are unlocked and able to be overclocked.

To be picky, you can sometimes overlock multiplier locked CPUs. Not sure about Ivy Bridge. Was told Haswell it can't be done, but I have never looked into it. You have to change frequency settings, which could affect other things besides CPU.
