I am about to pull the trigger on a nice desktop with the Velox chassis. i see that the order would be a pre-order... Any word on how long the wait would be?

I did have a couple questions though.
First what's the difference between this video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB (Includes PhysX) and this one NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB (ASUS Strix Edition) Is the ASUS strix much better? The color LED fans offered as an upgrade (R4 series) are they worth it? |

1) For the Strix, ASUS took the graphics chip and built their own custom board with higher quality components in a more robust configuration and then added a factory overclock. I would recommend going with the Strix card, especially for the Velox.
2) The only difference you'll notice is the LED light in the fans. I wouldn't expect much performance gain at all. So whether you want the fans to light up is up to your own taste. If you want the top performing fans that are pretty quiet, the Velox uses 140mm fans, so you'd want to look at the EK Vardar fan (look for the ones with the 'ER' for extended RPM range) or the Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B14-3. If you get the DS fan control board, go with the NB-eLoop fans (they are 3-pin); if not, go with the EK Vardar (they are 4-pin). |

i tried like to get the NoiseBlocker e-loop fans and nobody had them. DS couldn't get them thru their suppliers either. i went with these Cougar's (model
CFD14HBW) instead. they were also cheaper. they do have a white LED (also come in red, blue, etc.). Cougar is a quite well-reviewed brand, both in cooling and noise performance. Edited by db188 - 09 Nov 2015 at 10:15pm |

Yeah, and it doesn't look like the Vardar fans have been rereleased to the market, either. The cougar fans may be the way to go for high performance fans.
If you aren't putting in any radiators, the Corsair AF fans (the upgrade) aren't a bad option; they just don't have a high static pressure to have good performance with radiators. |

Welcome to the family! We are waiting for supply on more VELOX cases, we ran out due to the big Back to School season, we should have them back in the next few weeks. Hang in there, at least you're in the front line now.

Finally got my desktop I love it.. Quick question... I have the GeForce GTX980 Ti 6GB ASUS Strix edition video card and the fans never turn.. Is that normal? I had read that they won't spin below 60degrees C but just hit 63 degrees and no spinning

The fans on the Strix are off until a particular temp like you said. Not sure the temp, but the low to mid 60's is about right.
Find something to really stress it. FarCry 3 for me is about the hardest game on a card. Really pushes it. Or, Furmark or Unigine Heaven will also stress it. I think you're good to go, but no harm in checking it. |
