Hey Folks,
I'm playing with my new Aventum 3. It has a liquid cooled CPU and GPUs, and I'm trying to find the right balance between fan speed and temperatures. Right now I have the fans on "auto" at a fairly slow speed. I've been running the Heaven benchmark for about an hour, and the temperatures look like this: • GPUs: 60 - 72 degrees • CPU: 65 - 76 degrees (fluctuates) Do those seems like safe temperatures? I know from experience that the GPU temps are safe. However, I'm not sure about the CPU. Is 75 too hot? The top radiator sure does feel toasty. By the way, while running "auto" fan mode, the fans never seem to change speed. I was hoping they would kick up a little during game play, but they keep spinning very slow. |

While my machine is nowhere even close to your beast just in raw power alone, I can say that 60s to mid 70s is the butter zone. Everything is running fine at that temp and there should be no problems.
My understanding from folks 'in the know' is that when you start to see mid 80s you should take notice. |

70's is fine for the CPU. I'm not sure what thermal paste DS uses...some can be good for beyond 100, others are only good up until 80.
You may want to figure out what your water temperature is at the pump. I know my D5 has a maximum operating water temperature of 60. |

Hi JamesAstro... Like everyone said, the temps are perfectly fine. With your awesome setup I personally would shoot for CPU in the 60s. You have the cooling for it.
Unless low noise is your primary goal, set the fans to higher rpm as temps increase. Not sure how to use the DS control center, but if it isn't give you what you want, plug the rad fans into the motherboard and use Bios or AI Suite to do it. Your mobo is a great tool. You can just leave it as is, so up to you. |

Wow, I turned up the fan speeds just a little. Now the CPU never exceeds 60 degrees even when running benchmarks. The cooling on this machine is phenomenal!

Nice. That temp is more like it.

Yeah, I was obsessing too much about keeping the noise down. It's still very reasonable even when turned up to half speed. I don't notice it while playing games, and now everything is nice and cool.
I'm still amazed at the sizes of the radiators on this machine. It looks to me like there is one huge radiator at the bottom than runs the entire length of the machine (for the CPU I think). And there is another radiator up top, almost as big, probably for the video cards. Now I can see why this machine weighs so much. |

i've got the Aventum 3 myself. there's a 560mm in the bottom front, a 280mm in the bottom rear, and a 420mm rad up top. they're thin rads though, so not the same performance as full thickness rads, but still a whole lot of cooling in one machine. it would probably be more optimal to have two, rather than one loop, with one dedicated to the graphics and the other to cpu.
at any rate, you'll never see temps get as high as they do in bench marking software under normal use/loads. if you're seeing some spikes into the 70's while the proc is being extremely pushed in the bench mark testing it's no problem. if those temps were hitting the 80's with as much cooling as there is in this rig, i'd have concerns. personally, i run my system normally on "quiet mode" in the DS control center and turn the fans up for testing. |
