Several months ago I bought a Lynx level 2, and after several months I decided I wanted to get a second monitor. Recently I have been searching around to try and figure out the best way to setup dual monitors to have the display extend. I haven’t had much luck, and most of the stuff I found was outdated.

I was wondering what your suggestions would be on the best hardware to use for a dual monitor setup to extend the display.

I have a GeForce GTX 1650 4GB, which from my research I know is able to support 3 monitors, so I should be good there. Thank you for any help!

Without having much more detail than you provided, I found some interesting discussions at quora.com. Running two monitors from either an integrated GPU or a discrete graphics card is pretty much a no-brainer and can be set up in Windows:

https://www.pcworld.com/article/2057936/how-to-set-up-two-monitors.html

As summarized in this post:

"Firstly, the size in inches of the monitor is irrelevant: it is the number of pixels. If you are going to order another monitor, why not get a good big one? It is probably going to be a little further from you eye, so it wants to be a bit bigger. And make sure that the pixels/lines are at least as great as your current monitor.

Secondly, any moderately up to date computer will easily support two monitors. The only problem you might have is update rate. If you were trying to game on two monitors, you would need to generate twice as many frames. If your system is maxed out on one monitor, you are going to get only half the frame rate on two monitors. On the other hand, if you have a static or nearly static display on the second monitor, it will take very little extra power to run it. The actual display is handled by the display hardware: it is rendering new frames that takes the power.

My guess is that you will either be playing on monitor A or designing on monitor B. In which case they will share quite happily. And personally, I find multiple monitors invaluable (I use a total of three screens). So I would certainly get a second monitor, and as big as I could afford."

Bottom Line: your use case will determine if the GTX 1650 is good enough performance-wise.

Thank you, I appreciate the info.

I have no doubt that it can handle the two monitors, but my case only has 1 output HDMI port, and one VGA output. I didn’t know if it was possible to be able to extend the display off only 1 HDMI port.

Never mind the outputs from your "case". You have two sets of video outputs. The ones that are relevant are the ones from your video CARD. The others are outputs from your CPU's onboard video which is disabled by your card.

AFAIK, you have 3 outputs on your card, which may be a display port; an HDMI; and either another display port, another HDMI; or perhaps a DVI-D. I have not run across a 1650 that doesn't have 3 outputs.
