Good morning all,

I've been a console gamer since I could hold a controller and haven't PC gamed in many years (Roller Coaster Tycoon era, long long ago).

Getting into PC gaming has been on my radar for a few years but I wanted a dedicated space/room to setup a build and couldn't do that in the apartments I was renting.

I've now built my first home and have a dedicated room for an office. I went ahead and purchased my first custom pc from Digital Storm and it's currently in stage 1.

I'll be pairing the build below with an Alienware 3440x1440 34 inch monitor, Corsair K95 Platinum keyboard/cherry mx speed, Corsair Nightsword RGG mouse and SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC.

I look forward to getting to know everyone on the forum and playing with my new toy!

Welcome to the forum NaturumDemonto!   Nice rig!   I would only suggest two alterations to this Config.

1) Ask to switch to a better quality Corsair modular PSU. The DS PSU will only carry a 1 yr warranty.   The Corsairs PSU have longer 10 yr warranties for the 1200w Platinum efficiency digital model & 5 yr for the 850w Gold efficiency model.

2) Go Stage 2 Overclock on the CPU and get all the performance you are paying for out of the excellent I9-9900K CPU.     You have plenty of cooling on board the rig to handle Stage 2 with HydroLux Pro.

DS is easy to work with, so you can ask them for changes if you are interested !

Appreciate the reply and advice! I've already worked with DS and changed the color of my fluid to green. I had initial concerns about issues with using colored fluid from horror stories I've heard DS cleared those up and updated my invoice, much happier having green.

In regards to the power source, great point and a cheap change too.

For the overclock to stage 2, how much more performance can I expect out of the 9900 overclocking to 5.1 on all cores?

My knowledge of overclocking is limited and only comes from reading/watching videos online, not first hand experience. From what I've read/seen, it seemed like the gains were marginal to go that high.

Welcome to your thoughts as I'm just now getting my feet wet in this realm.

My fav color for my rig is also green, but clear is best for spotting corrosion or contaminants eventually forming over years time in coolants.     Tells you when to change out coolant, but you will just have to look a bit harder...lol.     Glad you made the PSU change...much more solid Corsair gear is worth the effort and should last the life of your rig.    I have a 2012 DS rig with that dependable and uber efficient Corsair AX1200i PSU running fine.

As to the Overclock, you should know that Intel designs all of the K class and X class processors to be fully Overclocked.     So by Stage 2 Overclocking this particular processor you are not “going that high” as in something to fear...you are simply turning it ON all the way ...exactly as Intel engineered.     That means you actually buy the extra performance of the CPU, but you don’t get it all unless you do fully Overclock that processor.     I don’t like leaving that potential un-tapped, so my advice is generally full speed ahead.

Now the only limiter on Overclocking is the cooling, and by getting the very best DS HydroLux Pro cooling ....you are already all set up to safely and efficiently finish Stage 2 Overclocking that excellent 8-core 16-thread CPU.    Get what you paid for... all the time, done safely with a decade of Overclocking experience that DS has building top line gaming and professional rigs!     They will set the Overclock and fully stress test it at full load to make sure frequency gets safely set at the very best possible setting for this particular CPU.     DS knows Overclocking.    Still time to make that inexpensive performance change.

Great points about the 9900k, I've already emailed and requested the stage 2 clock.

Unfortunately they're currently backordered on the Corsair 850 PSU, so no luck there.

Thanks again!

This is probably why I'm still in stage 1. Thanks for the info about the backorder.
