Hi everybody, I have been lurking and reading posts on this forum. Very informative.
I like the bolt level 4 configuration. I may buy but not yet. Still evaluating.
I have a 46" Samsung 1920 X1080p lcd TV. 2008 model 650 series
There is a modem connected in another room to a desktop. Comcast is the ISP.
My question is what is the best way to get internet to the TV so that I can play online games read email ,surf the web.
I do not want to deal with lag and droped connections while playing.
What hardware would you recommend?
Do I need a router or network adapter to plug in a wall outlet or what?
Where would I connect from bolt level 4 computer to get internet on my TV.
Thanks for viewing and appreciate your advice and suggestions.
Thanks

You could either use hdmi to your tv or rgb(vga) to your tv.

Thank you for your suggestion ArkansasWoman777,I understand how hdmi is connected, but how would the bolt computer transmit internet content and play online gaming on TV. My modem is connected in another room to a desktop. Is it wireless connection on motherboard of the bolt or do i need some wall adapter or router for transmission to TV.
How does Wifi on motheboard play into transmitting internet to TV.
Do I I need special hookups?
Please provide step by step procedure to a.ccomplish this.

I can't provide step by step setup for Asus WiFi GO, but in general, you can set it up in Client Mode in Bios to act as a wifi adapter, if you have a modem and wifi router or you can it up in Bios in AP mode to sync wifi to your other devices like cell phones and TV, making the pc a wifi router. The p8z77 I Deluxe mobo eliminates the need for a seperate wifi card in the pc or a external usb wifi adapter.
I would google the motherboard or Asus WiFi GO for a better explanation or call DS. Here's a link reviewing the mobo with an explanation of wifi go. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1001&Itemid=69&limit=1&limitstart=5 Hope this helps. Oh very interesting . Thanks for the info bpat22.
So let me try to understand. Asus WiFi GO motherboard eliminates the need of an external seperate wifi card or an external router adapter that is plugged into a wall outlet. The setup in Client mode in Bios would be wifi adapter. So a BIOS configuration would be needed. I currently have a cable modem connected to a desktop which is in a different room where the TV is located. The TV is sattelite connected.
So when I connect the DS bolt level 4 to my TV via hdmi cable connection, all I need to do is configure the BIOS and then my TV has internet connection.
No other hardware is neccessary?
Please be patient with me Iam really nieve about all this.
It sounds simple procedure.

I believe, and it is new to me also, that the modem in the other room would need a seperate wifi router hooked to it to transmit data to your Bolt. Your Bolt would pick up the Comcast signal by way of the modem/router without a seperate wifi adapter on the Bolt. The Bolt's mobo picks up the wifi from the other room. Or, a hard wire to the Bolt's ethernet port is needed from your modem, then you can setup in Bios how it interfaces, in this case turning your Bolt into a wifi router than can interface with your tv.
Either way, either a hard wire from modem or a wifi signal from a wifi adapter hooked to the comcast modem, the Bolt needs the sgnal first then you can set it up to act as wifi adapter or a wifi router. Please be patient with me also as I've never messed with it. If you have any doubts, and I really can't be 100%, I would call the DS gurus. It is a little ambiguous. |
