Hey whats up Digital Storm, I've been recommended here by a couple of people that I know, and so far from the reviews and etc that I read, everything looks awesome and better then the major companies. I'm looking for a rig for myself that I plan on buying in maybe 2 months time. I'll be saving money for myself, to pay everything myself without parents help.

Anyways I want to stay under the budget of 2 Grand, and want specifically these parts, I don't want water cooling though:

A 1920 x 1600 Resolution Monitor + Speakers + Keyboard
Haf-932 Case
Ati Radeon 5970
Intel Core i7 920/AMD Phenom 965 (You guys can recommend a lower type Processor, I don't mind)
4-6 Gigs of Ram

I have great experience in computers, it's just difficult for me to decide which parts to get and etc for under the 2 grand budget, in which I want in a couple of months. From the looks of everything, you guys have my business in about 2 months! Thanks for the help in advance guys.

for 1900 x 1200 you don't need a 5970, its overkill, all you need is a 5870.

in 2 month time, nvidia will have the Fermi out which will out perform the 5870, I recommend you go with that.

i7 920 with stage one oc is what you want.

with the x58 platform you will get 6GB of ram.

I'm not sure how you gonna get a good monitor with a res of 1900 x 1200, a 5970, and 920 and stay under 2 grand at DS.

but lest see what the prices are in 2 month, with a bit of luck it might work

Thank you DST for your reply, the reason why I'm aiming for a 5970 is for future purpose's as well, I might add another monitor with similar resolutions, as I will be using this computer for over 4+ years.

I can go over a little bit with the 2 Grand margin, thats not a problem for me.

And btw, no thank you to Nvidia products.......I like both Ati and Nvidia but I had some serious problems from past rigs of mine, ATI has always been reliable and never fugged up on me.

And how much would of that ontop cost all together? Just a estimate

well 5970 is not really future proof, plus you would get better performance from 2 x 5870 then 1 x 5970. and if you wait to add the second when you need it, you would pay less for 2 x 5870 and enjoy better performance.

right now I'm looking at the config page, and:

I guess with the monitor, speakers, and keyboard....it will be around 2.5 G right? I'm willing to wait just a bit longer to save up for that.

Btw, I was also aiming for a video card over-clock as well.

AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-U12P High Performance Cooler (Compatible With ONLY i7 Processors):

Is this liquid cooled or actually fan cooled, I prefer myself into having a fan cooled system then liquid cooling.

Thanks for helping me out :).

EDIT : I think I can save up right before Christmas, so a self Christmas gift :D

Noctua is air of course, it wouldn't say "Air Stage 2" if it was not air, I know the name makes it sound like liquid tho

I suggest you start looking at newegg for monitor and mouse and keyboard and etc, you will save a bit of money.

EDIT : I also noticed you guys are having a promo bundle on the accessories, is it possible one will be around Christmas or New Years? That would actually be really awesome.

Sorry for double posting, but may I ask one question about the video cards shipped out here?

Will the 5970 come in a XFX addition or any other addition or just a plain Branded Ati addition? Just through curiosity.

its whatever they can get their hands on, but you can request whatever brand you like, you might have to wait longer to get that brand, but you can request whatever brand you like.

no reason to appologize for asking questions, we like them here, so ask as many as you like

I read around here and realized that the 5970 and the 5870's are short in stock?

Hopefully they will be in stock in 2 months, because I would really want my hands on a 5970......but Ati is growing everyday as more and more people get the 5970 lol

Btw I was looking at some other threads and topics, DST why don't you like Video over clocking? In the past, I saw that over clocking the video cards shows a lot of performance gain.

the reason is because now in days, the gpu solution I recommended will give you 50 to 60 fps at your resolution.

this means you are getting smooth game play, and after 60 fps you can't tell the difference, so if stock you are getting 60 fps and oced you are getting 95 fps, you will never notice the difference between the two, so why bring the extra heat to the equation when the performance will not be noticed.

and trust me, next year this time, we will be talking about nvidia not ati , but you never know, so lets see

Ahhh alright, something popped inside of my head when I was in school today.

I noticed the AMD Phenom's processors are a bit cheaper, but offer same performance. Maybe get a Phenom processor with overclock instead of Intel? Comments?

I'm thinking the savings in going to be in bundles and tweaks so you can figure around how much you would spend now, minus a $100 or so, of course that is pure assumption and could be completely wrong.

that sale doesn't sound too thrilling but actually
I'm kicking my self really hard for missing up on their november sale.
When I was reconfiging (DST4ME's Suggestion)
I realized those bundles save me lots and well worth it,
yeah, OC is very easy, but the Stress test to make sure its stable is a pain,
So if DS is doing it for free, yoo hoo !

I'm also waiting to see what their xmas or new years sale is gonna be
btw is there any major reasons to why you're going 5970 ?
Not bashing or anything, I'm just curious if you have same thoughts as I do.

5970 is overkill, the 5970 is for 2560 x 1600 resolution or higher, below that res a 5970 is overkill unless you are playing crysis.

lol yeah, I agree on overkill but..
My hunger for best took over and I ended up with 4870x2 when it was out.
that and bestbuy made a mistake on their pricing and it was only 340 or around there. on the first release date

Well, for one it outperforms a 5870 and will run everything flawlessly on 1920 x 1200 resolutions, as I may be adding another monitor and maybe even playing on a 60" TV with EXTREMELY high resolutions.

5970 is good for high resolutions and high-end gaming and is mostly futureproof, yea that is why xD

Yeah basically what I sorta had in my mind when I always go after the top line GPU, sometimes xfire or sli'ing them too.
but there's also that little voice in my head that speaks "i know it's expensive, but atleast you won't have to upgrade for awhile"

till 6 months the next gen comes out and twice as fast, that damn voice convinces me to upgrade again !

yeah well, GL with the 5970 bro, I'll prbbly do the same if Nvidia delays any longer than past feb,  (if they start to talk about Q3 of 2010)
either way prepare for head aches on that 60"
Something I learned while playing wow on my 57" @ high resolution.

the 5970 will run everything a 5970 can at 1900 x 1200, with 4xaa even a 5970 can't pull crysis, so for 1900 x 1200 in most games you won't be able to tell if the system is running a 5870 or 5970, therefore its overkill, cause you won't notice the difference.

at 2560 x 1600 you will begin to notice the difference between 1 x 5870 and 1 x 5970.

if your 60 inch has a 1900 x 1200, then you can't tell the difference between a 5870 and 5970 on that tv either in most games.

now on the other hand if your tv or monitor will have a res of 2560 x 1600, then you need to get a 5970.

Oh and btw DST, I have to disagree with you when you say that we will be talking about Nvidia in a couple of months, not true.

Ati will be releasing there 6xxx series and slapping Nvidia to there knees, it's believed the GT300 series WILL beat the 5XXX series, but not the 6XXX.

Not sure, ATI did a good job on releasing HD5 Series this early vs Nvidia.
This does give them enough time to enjoy the marketing profit then release another card right after or same time as Nvidia's GT300 series, to keep their crown.
you have to remember Nvidia wouldn't release their dual GPU single card not untill their single gpu single cards are done being so popular.

then again, nvidia fan boys will be fan boys and ati fan boys will be fan boys,
They'll take sides regardless of the actual performance or justify it through some game the card has advantages or disadvantages.

i personally just keep cheering for who ever makes the better card, I love both companies

Nvidia is always about having the crown and not the most popular, tho by having the crown you do become most popular as ati just proved it.

ati won't be releasing the next gen cards before end of summer of 2010.

based on performance nvidia has been king till the 58xx.

like I said we will see.

kick my self if i ever pay that much for a single gpu ever again

Nvidia has not been the king till the 5800. lol ATI has held the top spot with many GPU's though the years.

ATI will not becoming out with the next gen anytime soon.. maybe Nov-Dec 2010.. that would be the earliest.

that statment by justin has been fairly true.
I see on some benchmarks 4870x2 keepin up or fair with GTX295

but I honestly believed Nvidia was holding the crown fairly well till 4800 series came out,
I really disliked the ati 3000 series, their dual gpu single card gave me gray hair !
