Im curious why you like the pro case so much tyler, the lite one has better cooling stock and its open air, LITE > PRO imo
my opinions of this build's advantage over tyler's
lite case > pro case, universally imo
dropped out the floppy, i havent seen a floppy disk for years
went up to vista and a stronger GPU at the cost of stage 2 cooling which... with a 8800gt you may have needed, but with no OC then id think stage 1 was enough

I guess it depends on his mother's tastes in cases. As far as the cooling goes, if your not overclocking a quad the pro's air flow is fine.
In terms of the Lite case itself, I don't care for styling, nor for the use of chromed plastic in the front of the case. The aluminum stock used is a touch on the thin side as well, and I have a dislike for stamped fan grills. The hinged front panel cover is another item I don't care for, and having an HDD activity dial clicking away nonstop would drive me to distraction.
I'm picky though. I work in metal fab, and have a tendency to be a little um... I believe "detail oriented" is the polite way to put it.
I do think having DSO place a third 120mm fan in the 3 empty 5.25" bays is a great idea if overclocking, as is requesting high cfm fans. If you're not overclocking, and you're not running high end GPU's in SLI, the default cooling is fine.
To me, there is no definite "this case" > "that case". Each case offered has a set of strengths. Within the budget requested, either case would work. It's up to the individual to decide which is the better choice. Edited by Tyler Lowe - 18 Jan 2008 at 12:06am |

That's not going to be as easy....
Do you intend to reuse a keyboard and mouse, or at least purchase those locally, or are those also to be included in the configuration?
