Topic: $1500 build help Posted: 30 Oct 2009 at 2:47pm |
Hey everyone, I haven't built a computer in almost 7 years, and finally that computer is dying and it's time to upgrade. I have spent the past couple months trying to figure out what I wanted to do, and here is what I came up with. My budget is $1500 and I am trying to make it as future proof as possible. I would appreciate any advice or comments, especially if there is something that I am missing with what I am putting together. Thanks guys.
ASUS P6T LGA 1366
Core i-7 920
Corsair 6GB Kit TR3X6G1600C9
Antec 300
Antec TP-750 Power Supply
XFX Radeon HD 5770
WD Caviar Black 500GB
Samsung DVD RW
Acer 24" H243H
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OEM
Price - $1488.88
Thanks again for your help!

Is there any reason why? Better cooling etc? Does everything else look like the right way to do it? Thanks a lot.

I just saw the evga comment. what board would you recommend from them? everything i read said asus was the way to go. Also, is the haf 932 worth an extra 100?

evga has better support and warranty, the HAF gives you much better airflow stock, it has more fans and its fans are bigger also, its much easier design to add HDDs and etc.

Ok I edited the post, here is currently what I have. I am missing a 24" monitor, but am having issues finding one with USB's for a good price and also the video card, which I am leaning towards a 5850. So far I am at 1145, if I add the video card and monitor I am going to be at 1650. But if it costs me an extra 150 to get exactly the right thing then I guess its worth it. Thoughts? Thanks again for any help...
