Budget $1800
484460 I would like the machine to be able to run @ 1920x1200 in high detail for the next 1 1/2 to 2 years. Titles such as SC2, D3, ME3, Deus EX, Witcher 2, DA2 etc The machine will be used for almost exclusively gaming purposes I need no other special needs than this. I've seen a lot of persons in the forums suggesting the corsair PS over the default one is this a common theme? Will the i72600 provide me a significant performance boost from a price stand point? Will it hold off the obsolescence monster for a significantly greater period of time? Or will a possible VC upgrade keep him off my heels longer. (I'm cool switching Cards I don't care for switching CPUs) I'm not at all concerned with aesthetics of a case. I chose this case because, simply, it is the least expensive. Is there advantages/disadvantages I should consider when picking these cases? OC or no OC the Video card? I really appreciate these forums being here and anyone reading and responding. from a gaming stand point no but if your doing encoding/photoshop stuff etc it will help. I would def also go up to the 750w Corsair power supply. The cooling on the 430 seems to be ehhh i would at least upgrade the fans since i believe it will only come with one front fan(my cousins came this way).

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.
DST4ME I actually don't care for those cases did you put them in because they are the best in price range? Better asked are there downfalls to the other cases such as CM690 CM690 II CM Elite 334 CM Elite 430 CM HAF 912 Corsair 600T I said I don't care about the look of the case aesthetically, but a lot of the cases I actually don't care for....I think I'm a more plain kinda guy. Thanks! |

RE2000GT
Out of the cases listed do any have good stock cooling? If I'm going to upgrade the fans I might as well look at other cases with the $60 add on |

HAF series should be one of the best stock air coolers in DS's customizer.

based on tests ive seen the case with the best temps would be the black ops assisan but since ur stuck with a budget its gonna be any of the haf cases. This link has a bunch of cases(note that the ft02r is the black ops assissan. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2011/01/06/lian-li-pc-v1020-review/3 |

IF you want the best airflow then its haf (high air flow), 932 and 942 have the best airflow, its price is low and performance is great, that is why I love the haf. the other cases you listed don't have the best airflow.
I don't like the assasin cause its price is higher and with a simple $30 200mm fan I can make the haf 922 have better air flow then the assasin, the 932 and 942 already have a better airflow then the assasin, but thats just me, to each his own. |

The Assassin is also pretty cramped for room.

I personally don't favor the Assassin or RV02. I'm fine with the working space, but the depth is killing me as well as the uneasy PSU mount. IMO, if you want to look for a vertical channel case, wait a month or so for the RV03 to come out. THAT thing kicks ass. Sure, it's less deep than the FT02 that makes it a little more cramped, but it stuffs vertical ascension and dual 180mm fans into a mid-tower with EATX on it. SS actually legitimately spent hours thermally testing the crud out of that thing, and the internal space I believe looks nice. HDD mounts accessible on the right panel, PSU stuffed into the front bottom of the case, and that leaves a nice cavity on the left panel to work with without being able to mess with the HDDs or PSU.
RV03's also appearing to have some insane internal liquid cooling potential as well, believe it or not (Unique to ANY raven based case SS has made), in case you ever felt like doing some crazy stuff in the future, hehe. Edited by ablahblah - 06 Feb 2011 at 11:13pm |

I think the assassin brings a little something extra to the table that the HAF simply can not bring.
I am referring to the "90 Degree" Motherboard config where you dont ever have to reach around the case, everything is on top. That being said im sure the HAF cases beat it with "Airflow" but the assassin looks to simply be trying to push as much air up and exhausting it upward as well. Both very unique cases in there own right, i have only used and owned a HAF 932 and find the case amazing and a great value but the assassin with its 90 degree concept looks to be something i could have really used throughout the years. |

The assassin has low speed fans because of the principle. This does not mean it exhausts more air, exhausts air quicker, or at a higher pressure. The HAF is still king with air pressure.
I own a RV01, it's not like there's a freaking wind tunnel up above my case. It's just normal airflow. The RV03 I see as different than the RV02/Ft02 though because it allows better fan modularity and thus better internal pressure, as well as offering incredible internal LC potential. I appreciate all the talk about cases at it is my only hang up now as I have decided on all the other parts.
DST you state IF I want the best airflow...I don't foresee myself making any other mods to the case other than having to add RAM or swap out a VC for a beefier one in a year or two. Is the cooling sufficient on other cases or you consider the HAF to be a necessity considering the set up. I really appreciate your time guys as I'm sure I'm asking the same questions about 5 different ways ![]() |

Cooling is sufficient, what am I saying lol, pick whatever case you like. It's your computer anyways, and it's not bleeding edge enough i think that it'll make any real difference

Other cases have good airflow also but IMHO why spend more and get less airflow, so I like the HAF cause if gives you better airflow, more room to work inside the pc for upgrades and etc, and costs less at the same time. but as its your case you go with what you like, you want more room and airflow then go with haf.
