Hi everyone, would appreciate some help. Would 2x5870's be ideal for gaming on a 1920x1200 monitor? Im thinking about getting another DS computer, and would like to be as "future proof" as possible. Any and all configuration help would be appreciated. Ouch

spending money on things you don't need right now and that you can get later when you do need it for a much better price is not called future proofing boss.

real future proof is when you get what you want now but have the ability to upgrade later, but even then there is no real future proofing.

that way lets say, you get one 5870 now, and then later say in a year or so, if you need more power, you can take the money from the second 5870 you were gonna get now, and either get a second 5870 for much cheaper, or better yet, upgrade to the new gpus that will be out then, which will be more powerful.

as to answer your question, 2 x 5870 can be overkill for that res, it depends what games you would be playing.

great, that answers my question. I don't want to spend money, just to spend money. Thanks for the help.

lol, just noticed you were asking a question and not really giving an answer. This is what happens when you scan over something instead of actually reading it.(I have three kids and work from home...scatter brained at times) See above for games. One more question. Would a SSD make a huge difference?

Thanks

for crysis at 1900 x 1200, to play at highest settings with 2x aa you will need 2 x 5870. all the other games you named all you need is 1 x 5870.

ssd will speed up read/write times and os/apps/games load times.
