Could use some help building a PC right around $1k.  Will be for gaming / college work.  I answered the basic questions below, let me know if you guys (and gals) need more info.  Really appreciate the assistance, this community appears to be incredibly supportive (which speaks well for the company).

1) Monitor size and general resolution most games will be played on
 - 22-24inches // 1920 x 1080

2) Budget
 - 1K (+-100)

3) whether you will use any equipment from your last computer on the new computer (keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor etc) that way we can budget that out of the build
- Only need the tower, have all the rest

4) General uses to be done on the computer. (gaming, college work, internet etc.)
- Gaming (mostly MMOs, ie...WoW, Eve, GW2) and some general college work (shouldn't affect requirements. 

I would like to be able to play games released for the next couple years, doesn't have to be on the highest settings, but solid performance on medium/high level settings would be preferred.

Hi POW!...  Welcome to the forums.
 
For a grand$ the Bolt level 1 or Marauder level 2 under Special Ops would be the two within your budget.
 
Here's a link that shows the gtx650 card with various games and monitor resolutions.

Thanks for the quick response, do you have a recommendation for either?  I know my budget is small, so that reduces the fun in configuration options.  Will either of those (or one over the other) have cooling issues, etc or am I just picking between skinny black or normal size military green?

Unless space is a real issue, my pick would be the Marauder 2.   Its a larger case with more room to breath and easier to work on or upgrade and a full size motherboard and power supply.   They'll both give similar performance.

I do like the Bolt but I'm a more convential guy.
