Hey, ok so after alot of looking around at custom pc sites this one seems to stand out from the rest so I figured ill give it a shot.
I currently have a makeshift game computer so this is my first true custom built game computer. This will be mostly for games and video editing, in addition to normal daily computer work. Games I play Starcraft 2, Crisis 2, various others and im getting alot more into PC gaming so im planning to have it in use alot. Budget: WouId LOVE to stay under $3000, but im flexable to $3500; I have a monitor with res of 1920x1080 (might upgrade that in the near future too) so right now im looking for the computer only. Im trying to get a quiet set up also which is one reason ive gone toward the LC. Im curious what you have to say about my set up. Im open to suggestions! Thanks in advance! Ticket: 541097 |

Even in Lc if you don't use low cfm rads with low cfm fans, you will endup with a loud system, as high cfm fas are high dba, aka loud.
what if I told you that you need to be at $3700? and even then you won't be in the recommended case. plus if you are going to higher res than what you have, you gonna want the 6970/580 for higher vram, and that will take the cost even higher then $3700. and that is without requesting low cfm rads/fans. Having said that, staying with sli 570, this is what I would recommend: Here you go Ticket# 541294 --- $3871 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - There is still a matter of higher res in teh future needing more vram for high aa settings, if you don't care about high aa settings, and don't play games like gta4, then the sli 570 will do find in games at higher res. |

Thanks for the detailed report it really helped me out!
Funny i was originally looking at the Hail storm case but moved to the other section for lower costs but if its better for my needs it might be worth it. Think I will also take your advice for the SSD and upgrade to it later. (that was more of an "i want this but dont NEED it right now" anyway)
The vram is something else im going to have to go back over and see if i want to upgrade that also.
Only question i would have would be on the LC. I know its good for cooling and protection Im just wondering if its going to be worth the price of cooling both cpu and gpu or if air cooling would make that big a difference. Someone mentioned to me that just having the gpu liquid cooled might be a good idea if possible?
Thanks again!

when you get the ssd, clone it to the 1TB, that way you move everything in one shot and no need to reinstall anything.
you can follow my clone guide here once its done and working correctly, format and push the 1TB to hdd2. LC is not needed and is a luxury, on both cpu and gpu. |

Good tip seems easy enough (and i hate reinstalling everything). The forums around here have been very useful and informative so i feel alot better about some of my options.
Thanks for the help!

Hey again, so before finalizing my order (this week i hope) I made a few adjustments to the build. Thought i would see everyone thought of this.
Same budget ect; Major changes to the build, I dropped LC due to the fact not a single person has said "yes you NEED that" so i figured why spend the extra cash on that. Upgraded to the SLI 580s; From what i read i need to ask for another 200m fan for the case, but other than that any thoughts, or possible suggestions as to tweek this at all (fan add ons, special requests anything like that? Also any thoughts on going with the 160gb vs 120gb SSD? Ticket: 544344 Specifications:

Just a thought but i game at 1080 with one gtx 580 and it performs great. Really think 2 may be overkill.

Yea i thought of that, i was considering the 2 cards since i was thinking of increasing the res. with a new monitor but thats still up in the air. Could always just grab a 2nd card later on i guess also if needed.

I would go with one 580 now, add the second later.
I would go with the 1TB black caviar as hdd2. you won't see any difference between the 120GB and 160GB intel, you sure you need the 160GB? you don't need the D14, go with Noctua NH-U12P, difference is 3 to 5c, and with the u12, choose the next stage oc at least. at 1900 x 1200, or at 2560 x 1600 with no/low aa settings, my build will match yours config's performance in games, however in everything else mine is faster. |

Going with the 120gb (i forgot my current computer has alot of junk that will not be on the new computer so i wont need a 160 after all); Checked out the u12, seems good and if the difference is that small seems better to stay away from the d14 (that thing looked massive anyway); My reason for the d14 was better cooling anyway. I am assuming that the u12 would handle my cooling needs fine even with the oc pushed up since your recommending that.
I actually end up saving money going with your build and can just upgrade to the other 580 later if needed so seems like a win win!
Thanks!
