I selected the 1TB Western Digital HD as my PC's only/single HD. Some of the friendly critisicm I recieved tells me that I should have gone with a 300GB Western Digital VelociRaptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) for HD1 and a Multimedia\Data: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) for HD2. I also hear that it takes long to scan, search, and back a 1tb HD. So basically what I ask is, will my Hard drive make me pull my hair out?Cry

possible, as it gets more and more data things will take longer and longer, virus scans will take for ever and don't even ask about defraging

1tb of space is useless to the majority of people anyway,
even 300 is quite a bit, unless you do 3d rendering or video animations the 1tb is poinltess

you can always just get another drive and add that drive as HDD1 and then use this 1TB as HDD2 for file storage.

its not that bad and it will be a while before it loads up.

a veloci also scans faster

its really not that big of a deal
if the computers still being assembled you can probly have it swapped out
if you already have it you might be able to return it for a replacement and pay the difference

or just stick with it

Thanks for the advice friends. Well my pc is in transit and should arrive this Wednesday. I am considering buying a 300GB HDD Velociraptor and making it my HDD1 and moving the 1TB HDD to HDD2. Sound a lot better? Big%20smile

If you are not familiar with how to move everything off the main drive there are people like DST4ME that can give you advice.  Remember your boot code, OS, drivers & registry settings etc are currently on the 1 TB and you will need all this moved gracefully to the new proposed 300 Velociraptor as your primary boot drive.

The forum members will help you through that swap.

I am currently running the 300 MB Velociraptor as my boot drive and for games and it is definitely fast!  I have a 500 MB standard drive for movies, pictures, MP3s etc.  This way the boot drive doesn't get all cluttered up with junk.  It only has the critical stuff and games on it.

Don't forget to send pictures when your beast arrives!
