Yes, you'll be able to use the card. The recommended voltage needed listed on graphic cards are for the entire system.

Sorry, I meant amperage and not voltage. The total recommended amperage is for the entire system.

Your motherboard and CPU is usually on one rail while the rest of your components are on the other rail. It doesn't share the rails.

The 9800gt pulls a max of 8.75 Amps, in stock form.

hum the requirments on the box of the card at the store said 26 amps and at least 400w

so will my 500 watt (has combined wattage of 408 so im good on watts) but the 12 volt rails are each 22 amps.

and i thougnt i needed 26 or 13 on each rail.

thanks a lot

he just explained that. the amp requirement (26) is for the entire system, not just the card.  The card (per justin) will pull max 8.75 amps. You will be fine.

look under the spec tab.

105 watts = 8.75 amps.

And the Mobo can supply around 75 watts through the PCIe slot, so there is some sharing of the power.

The box isn't wrong, it's right in the fact that you need an minimum of 26 amperage to run a system with a 9800GT. This is the most simple they can make it as one of the reasons they do not list the minimum required for just the GPU is because of warranty reasons. No one wants to list that a 9800GT requires 120w and 8a because some smartass will try to run it on a 250W PSU and than blame it on the manufacturer.

Some PSUs come with a single 12v rail where all the components share the amperage. Whereas others like yours come in multiple 12v rails where one rail is dedicated to a group of components.

Look on the side of your PSU for the power disbursement breakdown. Look for the 2 12V rails and see how many AMPS combined they give, that will tell you if you can run the card or not.

Delay issues aren't the GPU's fault. It's your internet connection or monitor.
