Hey folks.
Finish the last touches (on paper) of what I want. Opinion - should I go with 2 690s or 3 680s? Prob gonna go with a single monitor - pretty sold on the Dell Ultrasharp but im always open to suggestions for awesome monitors. Also anything in your opinions I should wait on that might be coming down the pipe? Seen anything really awesome I should throw in? Thanks for reading! Xii! |

For a single monitor.....If its a 23/24" at 1920x1080 then 2x gtx 670 for $400 cheaper than 2x 680 would do it. For a 30" monitor i would think 3x gtx670 or 680.
The 670's are only 5-10% less in fps and cost alot less than 680 but all depends on your needs. Just my thoughts.

Two gtx 690's is actually four gtx 680's with just a little down tick in clock speed. Each 690 has 2 680 gpu chips onboard with a radial fan in between the 2 heatsinks. The heat from one heatsink goes out the back of the case and the other heatsink heat goes into the case.

just go to frozencpu and see if any brand is offering waterblocks for the 690 yet, this will give you a good idea if DS can LC it yet, or ask lol

I would not want the 690s unless they could be LC.
Lets see, two 690s are $2000 and that gives you two sets of 680 GPUs. If one 680 fails it will cost $1000 to replace it. Now, three 680s cost $1500 and if one fails it cost $500 to replace it. Duh, whats the question?
