2nd build is not Gulftown.
Also, if Alex can chime in here, the Classified is listed as a 760 model? but I am pretty sure it is actually a 770 model.. would make a difference on a 3 card setup.

I would take the 2nd build, for 3 GPU's, I think you will see some better results. The Classified is a great board, time proven.
SB is a great performer, but since it is brand new, I would give the nod to the X58 for a tri-SLI build right now.

I wouldn't even mess with Sandybridge right now after the mass recall Intel did on them. Either wait for them to work the kinks out or go with the tried and true X58.

if someone has a max of 4 SATA connections needed, and really want a PC, why not just go SB? I would lol

because Sandy bridge only has 2 Native SATA 6gb connections.. and with 3 GPU's performance will be better with X58

So Justin, just to be clear(for me) in your opinion, stick with the second build (x58) and the 3x 570s? What about the vram issues with this card vs. the 3x 6970s at high resolutions and high AA?

I would stick with the X58 build, but I also would go with 3 6970's for the extra VRAM

I"m not sure what the performance loss is if any from SB to x58 to be honest, I'm trying to find that out, I don't think you gonna notice a difference in tri sli between x58 and SB, unless of course I'm missing something, justin can chime in and let us know, if he knows first the exact fps difference between tri cf 6970 on x58 and SB, if there is a loss, I imagine it would be few fps that you should not notice, but let me see what justin has to say to be sure.
I know justin likes the x58 for higher bandwidth but right now that does not make much of a difference, as long as we are still in x16 and x8 speeds. |
