from reading in the forums it sounds like there isn't enough room in a pro case for a 8800GTX and 2 cd drives, how about in a lite case?

The Pro case is deeper than the Lite.....

Lite: (W)8.00"x(D)20.50"x(H)17.75"
Pro: (W)8.86"x(D)21.26"x(H)18.23"

If the Pro will not acommodate a GPU, you're looking at an Extreme or an Ultra case.

I'd ask DSO before excluding the Pro case from any particular config though. The Pro is a bit deeper than most mid towers I've seen, so definately take it up with the experts before deciding you have to move up to a ~$300 case.

The Pro case can handle the 8800GTX and two optical drives without trouble. It's having two GTX's where you run into problems. The Pro case can't support the high end liquid cooling and the two GTX's constrict airflow. Also, the GTX's cover an addition PCI slot. This limits your options on optional cards like soundcards, physx cards, modems, ect. Feel free to give us a call and we'll be happy to go through a configuration with you.

Yeah, both Pro case and Lite case can handle 8800GTX and 2 cd drives. No Problem.
