Why do some mobo's have two ethernet ports ? In what instance would you need two ?
Just curious, as the ASUS board I'm going with has just that.

I'm going to try and link my other tower so i'll only need one connection to the router, instead of going wireless with the second one as I had planned.

I'll have the wireless for backup in case that doesn't work. I'll jump a cable to the the other tower and it should see it.
