Ordering the aventum quite soon, But whats the difference between 2 cards? Do you get better FPS? Or whats really the point? Do games utilize both graphic cards if they can?

2 Titans will have more performance than 1 Titan, but it isn't a 100% scale. For instance, SLI Titan does not equal to pure performance of 1 Titan multiplied by two. The scaling gets even worse as you go up to x3 and x4.

You will generally speaking get better FPS, and SLI can extend the performance life of a card.

Many games will utilize both cards if they can. Some games will not utilize it at all, and even fewer games won't even run with SLI on (but this is becoming less and less common). For most games SLI will either give you: A Big Boost, a Little Boost, or no Boost, without causing problems.

As for the point, that depends on your resolution, 3D, what games you play, etc. Is there a particular reason you want the Titan over the 780, or SLI Titans over one Titan?

Sli does help with frames, rendering etc if the need is there.  A bridge connects the two cards and they share, mirror, rendering tasks to more quickly fill the screen.   If your using a single 23" at 1920x1080 then the second probably isn't needed.  If you run a 30" at 2560x1600 and want settings at ultra, or run surround gaming with tri monitors then the sli would definitely help.

Some games don't play well with sli, but most do.

Big%20Smile I actually can't "properly" type either. I remember taking typing, but I was more interested in taking apart the type-writers than following the teacher, LOL

Also, the gtx 780 is 90% of the Titan in performance for 75% of the cost.  Might be something to consider.

Tidgxor..  Hahaha  My two fingers just fly across the keyboard.

Here's a link comparing a single 780 to the Titan.

For that resolution a single 780 will play real nice.  But, depends on what you upgrade the screen to.  780 is so close to titan for lots less, I'd go 780 personally, but your choice of course.  You could try one 780 now and add another later if needed, unless your going full water cooled, then a little more difficult adding.

I'd second the suggestion of starting with a single 780, then upgrading when/if needed. Though water cooling does indeed make it a little more finicky, if you are going that route.

True the Titan does have its on flair, but its just up to each individual to decide if the neatness and performance margin are worth the mound of extra pennies. Big%20Smile

I personally recommend the 780, but there is certainly nothing wrong with a Titan if you want the big man on the totem pole. Strong

Actually a 690 performs a lot better than a Titan for same or less cost, but its a long card so you need room in the case.

Ok...For one the thought of putting just a single card into an Aventum is like a 22.caliber bullet into a 44.Magnum (imo) ...It may fire but it's not gonna be what you expected. A single card (Titan or 780) is all that is required to run a 13" monitor,or for that matter even 2 13" monitors (can be done by a 770 actually)and it's is overkill using those cards.SLI (Serial Link Interface)is required when using 2 or more cards.there is no "1 SLI Titan" or any other single card (not counting 2GPU single card options) option.
In closing (and I am just trying to help) there is no reason to spend that amount of money with the "Aventum" when your graphic's resolution is that low (once again I am just trying to help). Please if you are wanting to build a system contact them (Digital Storm) directly so they may assist you in building a system for your needs and future wants.
