So a little over two years ago I took the plunge and bought Krypton laptop from DS.
You can read my initial review here: http://www.digitalstorm.com/forums/krypton-my-review-tidf23420/ Overall the laptop has kept up with everything I've thrown at it and I was very happy with the purchase. Then two weeks ago the unthinkable happened, my laptop fell off my rolling desk (roughly two-three feet), I was horrified. (Especially since the cause of the fall was a stupid 30 cent wheel on the desk breaking). I was relieved to find that my laptop had zero cracks on the screen and still booted up just fine; which says a lot about the build quality of these things. I did, however, find after some testing that cpu was running very hot and the framerates on all of my games had suddenly dropped drastically. I opened a ticket for DS, and got an automated response within an hour confirming it. About a day and a half later I got a call from Alexander Luciano, who did a great job of troubleshooting some things over the phone with me. We very quickly agreed the laptop needed to be looked at by the DS team. I paid for the shipping and a box, and within a couple of days DS sent me what I needed and I sent the laptop out to them. Alex was STELLAR at keeping in touch with me through the entire process (even responding on days he was off). I never once felt like I was being brushed aside or ignored. Even when I had extra anal-retentive questions, lol. Turns out the cooling gel had come loose during the fall, but the techs were able to fix, test and QA my rig in a day (lightning fast). A couple of days have gone by and I now have my laptop on my (much more sturdy) desk. Everything runs great, I booted up crysis 2 the minute I had it on, and it runs a steady 40 FPS (with ultra settings) The best part? I didn't have to pay labor, because of DS' warranty I saved a ton of money. Of course something may crop up in the future, but I'm pretty confident that DS will continue to do right by me. SO my point is for all you peeps who are considering buying a DS computer, it's totally worth it. Not only for the quality of the rig you're getting but for the outstanding support that comes with it. |

That's great to hear! I'm glad it all worked out for you. Rare to have folks write/call to praise a company.
Had a similar issue. Dropped my laptop after the TSA line because I forgot to zip up my bag. It was real smooth. Thankfully, I only had to re-seat the SSD even though it fell on tile. |
