First of all hello, I'm new to the forums but I've been lurking for awhile now.
I'm aiming for around $2000 for the computer, used for gaming and internet surfing. My Goal is 1920x1080 ultra settings on battlefield 3 on a 22-24" monitor, not included in the budget. I've no qualms about taking MSAA down a notch or two to keep the framerate over 60. So here's what I've got so far: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 (Intel Z68 Chipset) (Features Intel Quick Sync Technology) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS (Dual SLI Compatible) Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (500GB Seagate Barracuda (7200 RPM) (16MB Cache) Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB (Includes PhysX) (EVGA) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans CPU Boost: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Graphics Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Memory Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory OS Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Saved Ticket #: 358184 $1,989.00 I'm considering throwing in the 120SSD and 1TB hhd, but that would bust my budget by a fair margin. Looking for input on the i5 2500k, what will it OC up to, and would there be a noticeable performance hit compared to the i7 2600k? And finally will the cooling be adequate? Any other suggestions are appreciated, thanks for the input. -Joel |

Hi joelabram......my 2500k oc' d to 4.4. Strictly for gaming the difference between 2500k and 2600k is little for now. In a couple of years, who knows. The A70 has been discontinued. Pick the D14 or Phantek.....both great for oc' ing and keeping things cool. We usually recommend the 750hx psu for single gpu. The 800w is good and DS covers it for 5 years, the 750hx has a 7 year warranty.
