Hey guys, this is my first real gaming build, and I've looked at other places and decided that Digital Storm is probably the best one to go with. I'm trying to get a build that costs about $2000, the lower the better, including the cost of a monitor, mouse, and keyboard. (speakers not needed)
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=422314 What are your opinions and suggestions? And a couple quetions: Should I toss the SSD for a better video card, and should I upgrade the mobo in case I want to upgrade later on? (Which I very well might) Finally, should I go for an AMD cpu so I can then upgrade other parts of the build? Thanks in advance, the community here looks very helpful, and a lot of the senior members here actually act like they like the site they're on, unlike some other places I went to before here. ![]() EDIT: Oh, and the things I'll be using this machine for are mainly gaming, internet, and the regular tasks, but occasionally Photoshop, etc. I'll be using it as a gaming build >90% of the time, though. ![]() Edited by Imaku - 14 Jul 2010 at 10:47pm |

My suggestion to you: don't buy the promo bundles from DS. They aren't covered in the warranty and you can get them cheaper in other places if you look.
I suggest subscribing to TigerDirect and Newegg's email service and checking the ShellShocker deals on Newegg. You can get some good deals that way. If you're willing to accept standard crap-that-comes-with-prebuilts quality on the mice and keyboard, then you may be okay. |

yes
no
no, intel
careful how much you gimp your monitor mouse and keyboard. everyone has different prefrences of course but your peripherals are HOW you use your computer.
you said gaming, and i put gaming first. if it were me, i would drop the SSD for better gaming peices. you barely even know what youre getting with that "bundle"
consider the following
1691 + 60shipping
175 shipped
that leaves you 75 bucks to get a mouse and keyboard, which i would actually want more like 120 for those, but you get the idea. and the deals can be found Edited by !ender_ - 14 Jul 2010 at 10:57pm |

Thanks for the fast replies!
The monitor and keyboard look good, but for the mouse, newegg says sold out, and it's much more expensive on other sites. I'll probably find another though, thanks! And really, I've been using this mouse with my laptop since I got it, and it works very well, even after the mouse itself being dropped numerous times and the usb connector being all bent up after I accidentally dropped my laptop on it's side when it was plugged in. The actual usb port on my laptop, though... Edited by Imaku - 14 Jul 2010 at 11:29pm |

yea i will definitely say that keyboard and mouse are ALL about preference
i use a cheap keyboard which i love and an overly expensive flashy mouse and love it, so its just whatever works for you.
monitor on the other hand doesnt apply quite as much: you dont want to buy a $350 video card and use it on an old low res monitor because its a waste of money really
