I am looking at a new gaming rig and have been fiddling with online shop and reading random discussions in the config section and got a few questions

i usually design alot with flash player, also video editing as well as designing props etc i also quite like to play games a fair bit so look for a quality experienceConfused
plan to play/work at 1800p possibly adding  a second monitor (makes flash and aperture so much easier) though recently ive only been running a macbook pro with a mini dvi port adapter to another screen, though its started its inevitable decline into antiquity.....Unhappy

wondering whether i should upgrade to 2000mhz ram with less memory or 1600mhz ram with more memory(budget issues)

what graphics should i get (2 monitors at 1080p though only one for gaming)
in my build i have 1x gtx 480 (came with deal)

from posts ive read noctua d14 cooling is recommended (i dont know how to handle h20 so staying clear of that for now)

hope anyone can help cause im stuck right now

cheers all

p.s. heres my current build 409245

hope that helpsOuch

you wont notice the diff between 1600 and 2000 mhz ram

we need your resolution so we can give you the hardware you need.

we also need a list of games you play and apps you use

if the d 14 can fit on the mobo you want then it is always the better choice of air coolers and cheap LC

preliminary changes:

1. switch ti i7 920 you wont notice the diff between that and 930 with oc

2 switch to win 7 pro for backwards compatibility and xp mode

3 switch hdd to 1 tb it is almost as fast as the raptors but with more volume. this will be good for your art

4 go with the standard ram 6 gb

5 that monitor is great for extremely tight budgets. it is a tn panel and does not have great picture quality. a good sign of a nice monior would be a ips panel (identical horizontal and vertical viewing angles). these are more expensive but you will be happier. buying 1 good monitor is better then 2 crap ones. you can always add monitors later

6 switch psu to corsair

everythign else looks good so far once we have your res then we can tell you what gpu you really need.

in terms of shipping probably an additional $100 roughly it is hard to gauge since i am not a employee just a helpful dedicated fan.

keep in mind what i told you about monitors because ips panels cost more but have much better image quality. the monitor you chose on your config you can get cheaper from newegg.com. also that monitor is a tn panel.

i am putting in a ssd since it will dramatically increase your performance.

i am 90% sure on the gpu you may need a 480 but i doubt it. it is a odd resolution that i don't see very often.

if you do need the 480:
psu 1k watt corsair
gpu: nvdia gtx 480
2.5 Ghz Core duo
Nvidia 9500 gt
3 gb 1033 Mhz ram

thanks so much for going out of your way to help me, if i get an ssd i will probably have to take into account the exchange rates as well so yeh i forgot ill think on things for a bit i will probs stick with the 470 and maybe just downgrade the res to 1280 x1024 no reason as to why i wont manage at that so yeh ill play with a few other options research some good monitors read reviews etc and get back to you in a few days though yes from what ive heard ssd will increase my performance but its pretty easy for me to fill a 500G hd so not sure about it

cheers

for 1900 x 1200 go with a 480, its more important to get proper gpu and psu then its ssd, ssd should be the last thing on the list, and it can always be added later real easy.

Raif gave you a good build but I will tweak it a bit, now from this config, if you have the budget add the ssd, if not then you can add one down the road for cheaper and it will probably be faster, but if you have the budget now, they very nice to have.

Here you go Ticket# 409460 --- Price: $2197 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $2197

in your case I would fix it myself or take it to the local shop.

you see after the first 30 days of your receiving your pc, if something goes wrong:

a. you have to ship it overseas.

b. you have to pay for shipping cost to them and back to you.

Ya you can still get it here but don't get the warranty, if something happens take it to the local pc shop to fix it.

Yes that is why we love DS, because they use the same parts me and you would buy from the store if we were gonna build your pc, DS does not make any of the pc parts, they just build it for us.

all the parts you see in the configurator can be bought at the store or over the net from any place like newegg.
