Welcome to DS, oldklingon!
![]() Here's a build that maximizes your budget and gives room to grow... 859265 - $2433 (After Instant Savings) - with shipping it will be close to $2500. Things I changed: 1. 300R Case - Unless you like the design of the case you chose, this one is less expensive yet offers more space. 2. 4770K CPU - Better performance for demanding multi-threading programs (most video & photo editing software will use this). 3. ASUS Gryphon + 1050W PSU - Allows for future expansion in gaming by allowing 2nd (SLI) 770 GPU plus PSU gives plenty of headroom. 4. 128GB SSD + 2TB HDD - Speed up OS & Applications. Still have room for media. 5. Single Blu-ray Drive (unless your copying disc to disc, but you could just cache it on the SSD). 6. GTX 770 - Mostly outperforms the 7970. Plus, when games get more advanced you could add a second 770 (SLI) for added performance. Technically you could do this with the 7970 as well, but currently nVidia GPU's scale better. 7. Removed Sound Card. Unless your a true audiophile, a stand alone sound card is a waste of money. Plus you're not wasting a spot on the motherboard that could be used by a second 770! 8. H100i CPU Cooler - Larger CPU, more heat. A cool CPU is a happy CPU! 9. 120mm Fans. The 300R has a mix of 120mm & 140mm fans but not sure the exact qty of each. You could ask DS to fill all spaces with largest fans possible (mix of 120mm & 140mm). 10. LED Lighting - Fills the case better and offers different colors and effects. 11. Win8 (Standard) - Unless your absolutely stuck having to use Win7, go Win8. Future gaming will be benefitted by those with Win8 (already shown in DirectX 11.1). 12. Don't forget your FREE t-shirt! Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions/concerns! ![]() Edited by fstcvc - 09 Aug 2013 at 7:23pm |
