260 SLI or a single 280?

Planning to play Crysis and Far Cry 2 at 1680X1050 on a 22" monitor.
 
Will be ordering a DS rig with a Q9550 chip and not sure how I should structure my Nvidia's GPU(s).  I hear that always going with the most powerful single card is the best option vs. an SLI setup.

I guess go sli, for that resolution DS recommends 2 cards and 2 x 260 will run that very well and be read y for any new games too.

For 22" setup I would only go with a the 280. You don't really need SLI unless you go above 24" and even then its pushing it with the power the 280 holds..
