Can the 2600k overclock to 4.7 ghz on a noctua u12p cooler easily? Will it be stable at that with good temps?

It depends on the chip, and room temp, but it should get you there with that chip.

@ justin.kerr

How do you overclock? my SB is now at 3.8 and would like to take it to 4.4/4.5
All I can do is get it to 3.8 and that was putting in the numbers that DS management told me to input because I had stability issues when the rig arrived.

Call DS and thy will walk you thru it, you have to adjust the multi and perhaps the voltage, I have not oced a SB myself yet.

Read some where that if the SB is over clocked to 3.8  that would just be a waste of time since the chip will turbo to that when the juice is needed? If that is the case isn't that more ware and tear on the computer if it stays at 3.8 even when it is not needed? The only reason I asked for help is because when I configured my original system I was going to pay for level 2 over clock and justin.kerr said not to, and that it would be a waste of money since the SB is so easy to over clock, and that when I was ready, come back to the board and someone would be able to help me over clock it myself.

From what I understand turbo oces just one of the cores.

Open a thread or change the name of this one to include justin's name and hopefully he will see it and help you oc it, it is very easy.

turbo boost 2.0 can OC all 4 cores if need be. It works in levels if all 4 cores are taxed it can up it one level. The levels are defined in the bios. It can OC 1 core up to 4 levels for instance, 3 levels for 2 cores amd 2 levels for 3 cores.

Right but for example 3.8GHz is for one core, not 4 cores.

correct so if its 4 cores it will be 100mhz faster for each core. I believe you can even adjust the amount it adjusts as long as it has enough voltage and its cool enough. This combined with a already boost in the multiplier would be sweet. Digital storm did that with the enix they sent to maximum PC. It was a 4.7 ghz OC with turbo set for 5.2ghz i assume when its taxed on 1 core

I run all of my overclocks the same, or as close to as possible. All C states disabled, some platforms, you have to enable in order to overclock, but I hate the speedstep/throttling/turboing crap, lock all cores in at the same speed and leave em there. lol
