Is it worth spending about 200 more for a gtx 295 or stick with a gtx 285?

stick with a 285, in games that don't support sli 295 does much worst then a single 285, but if all or most games you play do support sli if 10 fps is worth it to you then go with 295.

OK e.fruman is right, lest see:
Hokinabrutech problem with your builds are: 1. a 750w psu won't support any more gpu upgrades. 2. Asetek has the same performance as Noctua NH-U12P, so you might as well save your money and go with Asetek. 3. as mentioned befor 2 x 275 cost less then 1 x 295 and 2 x 275 peforms better then 1 x 295. 4. the reason his build is 800 higher is mainly due to the ssd he has chosen for you and the 1000w psu, I believe just like me, he also thought that your HDD1 is a 160GB intel ssd, I had to look 3 times to realize that is a just a regular 160GB 7200rpm HDD. So drop his ssd and keep the 1000w psu for future upgrades and you get: Here you go Ticket# 309719 --- Price: $2593 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $2343 Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: -- Please Select a Chassis Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 3X SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Supports Triple SLI or CrossFire) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz Digital Storm Certified by mushkin enhanced (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition) Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (160GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 896MB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-U12P High Performance Cooler (Compatible With ONLY i7 Processors) Liquid Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a H20: Stage 3 Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Requires Air Cooling Upgrade) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) With Windows 7 Upgrade Coupon Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-10 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty the biggest difference here is that you didn't pick your pc to be oced, but this build is oced so its going to be much faster then your build. lol 2 x 275 will kick a 285's ass all day long. the reason for the 1000w psu is if he wants to go tri sli in the future, or its possible that the future gpus in dual sli will need a bit more psu power.

whey do you keep picking the astek for? its a waste of your money and you are not even choosing the OC on CPU option, which is what coolers are for.

go with Noctua NH-U12P, and I would let them OC it, so that it will be under warranty with the OC.

no they are not and the difference is like 4 fps anyways, lol, you need to understand that once you are talking a GPU, different variations of it are not gonna have any huge performance gain, they are all gonna be in the same ball park figure of performance.

looks are only so important, Noctua NH-U12P has a better life span and its only $23 more then the asetek, change the 2 120mm fans to black ones if you like. I'm sure we can find 120mm x 25 or 15 whatever they are.

not sure I think it will however the heat is gonna be more, I would stick with haf, you can ask them to change the fron fan to a 230mm led blue fan but you have to specifically ask for the 230mm led, you can ask them to replace the top fan with this fan and also the side fan.
here is one with blue front fan: here it is with front blue and side blue 230mm led fans: Edited by DST4ME - 19 Jul 2009 at 2:06am |
