Is 1000 watts enough for the GTX 285 SLI 1 GB? How about the 2GB?

1000 is way more than youd ever need for just one graphic card
you could easily get away with a 600-700 watt

yeah you'll be good with 1000 watt unless u think u gonna need more the only thing i think ull need 1200 watt for in the next year is if Nivida releases the new 300 cards and ppl go tri and quad sli wit em. but 1000 watt will take care of everything unless u running some off the wall stuff like 10 SSD's and such

@ Instinct, save your money and go with 275 gtx the difference between 275 and 285 is very little and with 1000w psu you can go upto tri sli 275 but you can't tri sli 285. the difference is like 4 fps and in sli its even less.

look at how little the difference is:

Far Cry 2:

Crysis WARHEAD:

now that is in single card, in dual sli the difference is basically unnoticeable

and a tri sli 275 can run any game for you at 2560 x 1600

Not in the same topic, but I don't feel like flooding the forums with more threads. For the regular EVGA X58 motherboard, can I run 2x gpu's sli + a creative fatal1ty champion sound card + a killer xeno pro nic? Yes I know people think the killer nic is a waste but I'm just wondering. :o

If not, what if one was to use the classified version instead on the haf 932? Can it run all 4? (2x gpu + soundcard + killer nic)

How about the SSDs? I was thinking of getting at least a 120gb ssd, but the ocz's are too much so I decided to get 2x 64gb corsair ssd. Are the ocz vertex's significantly better than the corsairs?

I believe you should be fine with dual sli a sound card and a LAN card.

yes the classified works great on the HAF, with the classified you can do Tri sli and sound card and LAN card.

all SSDs are not the same you need to double check the wear and tear and the read/write speed.

right now with the new firmware, the OCZ seems to do best and second to the Intel x25

Getting back to the GTX 285 real quick. Keep in mind a overclocked GTX275 can average about 5 frames per second higher then the GTX 285.

All in all the GTX 285 is a Major waist of money.

And to be totally honest I am not real impressed with any of Nvidia's new cards above the GTX275  IMHO

Heck if you really wanted GTX285 performance you could even have DSO do the optional overclock on the GTX275. Even at $45 extra you would still be saving alot and getting more FPS on average then the GTX285.

A pretty good option for someone already interested in the GTX285.
