I just ordered my dream machine with a 295 graphics card. I also just purchased a HP w2408h monitor. My monitor has a HDMI and a VGA connector. I read some forums that indicated that the HDMI port on the 295 does not function during boot up until the windows drivers are loaded.
I was wondering if my dream machine that I ordered will have a HDMI to DVI adapter in the box since everything thing I read indicates that the HDMI port on the 295 is not meant for a primary monitor. It appears the best way to run the w2408h is with a HDMI to DVI adapter into the 295 since then the boot sequence will be displayed.
Do I need to go out and buy a HDMI to DVI adapter before my dream machine arrives?

Call DS and ask them to see if your order comes wiht one, if not ask them for one, I'm sure they will throw on in there for you
but I can't confirm or deny anything you said about the hdmi port on the card. |

I read this on the Nvidia Customer Help web site:
DST4ME thanks for the instant response!! You are most likely the person that helps Digital Storm sell as many systems as they do. I have admired how you have always been the first to help and answer the questions of those of us preparing to buy our dream machines!!

Honestly its a pleasure, I really enjoy sharing little I know, also thanks for that info, looks like the first DVI from the PC it is.
but you just need to have an HDMI cable, you add the adapter to one end and stick that end in the PC and the other HDMI end to you PC. kinda strange why they did that, as on my 9800 gx2, I use the HDMI for primary. |

I went ahead and went down to Radio Shack and picked up a HDMI to DVI cable in order to use this new monitor in digital format on my existing PC till the dream machine arrives. I had read reviews about this HP monitor and other people have been complaining also that there was not a HDMI/DVI adapter or DVI port on it. Anyhow problem solved.
