Why not go with a i7 configuration? It won't cost much more and it'll be way much future-ready.

Also go with 1 ATI 4870 X2 or 2 nVidia 260+.

I'll run up a couple suggestions for you but first, what is your price range?

I was not clear in my initial post.  The system configuration above is for a PC that I recently purchased from DS.  I wanted to know if my son would see any performance gains by adding an additional gtx 280.  He plays at 1920X1200.  I read an article that said he would not need (or necessarily see) the benefits of adding an additional card since the first card typically delivers frame rates above 60 FPS for most games. Don't want to spend an additional $400 just for bragging rights. Was hoping some of the experts here could help me out. Thanks for all the responses.

When i run a crysis benchmark with SLI disabled i get around an average of 17 FPS (1920x1200 8xAA Very High Settings) with SLI enabled i shoot up to around 35-40FPS. so there is a differance with the second card. in crysis at least .i havnt tested SLI vs Non-Sli in any other game so far.

if your not looking to play crysis on max settings, IMO, a second card would not be needed. but for the sake of your son. i'd say get it Ermm bragging rights FTW.Smile
