DST4ME has a config for me that I think I'm gonna go with. I play FPS mostly and Need for speed type games. I have a 27in. Dell Ultra sharpU2711 capable of 2560x1440 resolution and want my games maxed out, all the bells and whistles on. What should I go with, 2x dual or 3x triple? Will the corsair 1200 PSU be enough or do I need SS 1500? Here is my build.Here you go Ticket# 482914 --- $3436 (To see this build click here) |

yes that system will give you tri sli if you want, tho as I mentioned in the other thread, if you want high aa, then you might want to look at cf 6970 cause it has more vram.

In the other thread you mentioned if I was to set crazy aa with the 3x 570s, then vram might be a problem and to maybe look at the 6970s. What did you mean? How much of a problem? I have always had ati cards and was looking forward to finally trying Nvidia. I have changed up my build a little. I've still got the 570s in on this build until your response about the 6970s. The 6970s are a little more money so I'm on the fence here! |

running 3 570's at your resolution will run out of Vram on some games, with AA set fairly high. The 6970's would make more sense.
I would get a X58 if you are going to run 3 GUP's, though, something like the Evga Classified motherboard.. just me

Justin, If there was an emoticon that was pulling out his hair I would place it here! That changes the hole build platform starting from scratch again Can it be done to rival this build? for the same price?

Justin why x58? the maximums has good bandwidth in p67. x16, x16, x8.
@10Broken, I would go with 6970s for higher vram. Edited by DST4ME - 01 Feb 2011 at 11:43pm |

like Dragoonseal posted, the ME4 begs, borrows and steals that bandwidth from other areas, I have a good diagram on my Decepticon, I will post up when I get home.

Right but even at 8x its no big deal, so what is the actual performance loss between tri sli 570 on i7 9xx and 2600k, if any.

Guess I'm reading it wrong, in your chard what speeds would pci lanes 1,2 and 4 be running if they each had one card on them?

those Q switches are to take bandwidth from other areas. that is where my beg, borrow, steal comment came from. So there is a theoretical, calculated potential for the specs they are quoting, but if any other part of the PC is using the bandwidth up in other areas, using the chart they Dragoonseal posted, then the actual numbers will be much less. and switches, usually = added latency. |
