Hello

Can someone give me some suggestions for a computer with my budget around 3000$? IF it is possible, I would like it to be able to run Crysis Warhead or whatever the game is called, but in very good graphics.

Stuff that I want it to have: Liquid cooling for cpu, chipset & Video card [Only if this is necessary] If you find something that is cheaper and doesn't perform that bad, you can show me that.
+ Monitor.

Basically a computer that can handle anything out there.

What do you need the computer for? Regular gaming your not going to need you chipset cooled. Only LC your processor if your OCing (air cooling does the job just fine if not) and with a decent graphics card (not OCed) you really don't NEED the LC either. But if you want it for looks it's all you.

Understand that the upgrade to the FrostBite LC for CPU, GPU and Chipset is $1,000. That only leaves you 2 grand for the rest of your machine.

Wait for DST4ME, he will help you out in building your rig

So if there isn't any big difference with LC and Air, then go with air.
Just give me some suggestions. Cause I want a computer that can handle "all" games with full graphics and HIGH frames per second / no lag at all.

games like crysis have a different need then most games out there, with crysis you are not gonna have highest settings and high aa and get 60 fps.

I can show a system that will easily handle whatever you throw at it for 90% of the games out there but the other 10% like crysis, that would be not possible unless you are running a low resolution.

What resolution will you be gaming at?

I want it to be able to handle Crysis. Does that mean it wont handle the other 90% games that well?

I want a monitor with a 22" or 24" display. I don't know what resolution, but maybe 1920x1200?
What do u suggest for resolution?

And contiune :D

your monitor will decide your resolution.

a 22" will have 1600 x 1200, 24" will have 1900 x 1200 and a 30" will have 2560 x 1600.

you pick your gpu based on your resolution.

what gpu you need for 1600 x 1200 is different then what you need at 1900 x 1200.

now what I said was the the pc will blow away 90% of the games out there, it will eat them for snack, but crysis is different then 90% of the games out there.

to build a pc that will run 90% of the games out there at the highest settings is a different build than building a pc that will run crysis with ease.

they crysis pc will cost more.

so my questions to you are these:

1. do you want to build a pc that handles 90% of the games out there easily or do you want to build a pc that will handle crysis?

2. what resolution are you going to be playing at?

I think it will be at 1900x1200. (Maybe 1600x1200)
Can you make a suggestion for both? (So what GPU for either?

And I'm not sure if I want it to be able to handle crysis. If you can make me a approximate price, I can think about it. Cause I can handle some extra bucs.

I'm not great with monitors but when shopping for a monitor look for a monitor that has the same Viewing Angle, both vertical and horizontal, and above 170°, this is a sign that you got a quality panel with that monitor and picture quality should be great with a quality monitor.

Ok sorry for spamming or whatever.
But I need to make this crystal clear:
So the cards are set up for the monitor resolution? or the gaming resolution? Cause, if it is for the gaming resolution, couldn't I just buy a 24" and play it with lower resolution to fit the 22" build?

I'm just wondering. I hope you can answer this! :)
I just signed a contract for Fiber internet here in Hungary. 120/10 Mbit. So now I am ready to order the DS Computer :D

buy your monitor at newegg or places like that so you save money.

its alwasy best to play at your monitor's native resolution.

yes you can play at a lower res, but then why pay for a 24" so you can play like you have a 22"?

So native resolution would be for example: My laptop is an XPS M1730. It has a 17" monitor, which has a max resolution of 1920 x 1200. This is the max resolution it can have on the windows desktop screen. Is this the native resolution? I'm not into this monitor stuff. Thank you.

And again, if you play at this native resolution, it will give the best frames or performance?

playing at native res will give you the best image quality, worst performance.  But that is what we want the best image quality. That is why we are using such fast chips, and powerful graphics cards, to make the games look great and play smoothly

yes your 17" laptop navitve resolution is 1920 x 1200, baesed on 1920 x 1200 is what we configured your gpu so that you get the best peformance you can at that res.

like I said the configs I gave you at 1920 x 1200 will give you 50 to 60 fps in most games.

crysis like I said will be a different story.

For the most games. I need more than 60 fps. I was thinking around 200. Does the builds make this?(Important: not for crysis, the other games[90%])
[Btw, my laptop was just an example.]
I am buying a new computer this week. So I need all help I can get. As I said, just ordered a very fast Fiber line internet. So planning on stepping back to my competitive gaming as well. (part time studying of course)

Ambidex your eyes can't tell the difference between 60 fps and 200 fps.

so nobody needs 200 fps cause you won't notice the other 140 fps if you killed yourself.

50 to 60 fps is all you need above that you can't tell the difference.

Anyways, if the game will be absolutely smooth, without any drop visually, that's what I want. Absolute great performance.
Will the builds you made hold? (I am not doubting your knowledge. I am just beeing paranoid, fearing the moment I run the game, and it lags when a lot of people in f.eks counter strike or quake 4 makes the frames drop)

I want to be able to play the games the way professionals play to win. [This may sound gay, whatever]

Even with the best system out there, there's no guarantee you won't have lag to some degree.  Server latency and other player's high pings can weigh in on your experience.

I am talking about frame lag. Frames per second. Latency has nothing to do with this.
I mean the performance.

You've stated when a lot of people get into the game and make the frame rates drop.  That can be a result of high pings, server latency, that cause others to see drops in there FPS.  The best system cannot guarantee you 100% stability on any server.

You'll definitely be able to get that here.  It just sucks when you're going along fine on a good sever and then a few high pingers get in with you and everybody's game goes to crap.

at 50 to 60 fps gaming is smooth, lag comes in at under 40 fps.

as EdH63 mentioned other things can create lag also, for un-line games your internet speed, the distance you are to the server that is hosting the game and that server's spec all contribute and can create lag.

as for fps lag, like I said that doesn't happen above 50 fps.

the build I gave you can handle 90% of the games out there, worst case scenario, this build has room to grow for more gpu power.

no what I mean is that you are getting 1 x 5870 and that should give you 50 to 60 fps on most games.

now theoretically speaking, lets say next year you see games need more gpu power, what you simply do is add another 5870, so you have crossfire 5870. with CF 5870 you have more power and it does better then 1 x 5970. Of course you wont notice the extra power unless you really need it, for example right now if you add a second 5870, you won't notice much of a difference at all in 90% of the games.

your system can take upto 3 x 5870 if needed. so you have plenty of room to grow and add gpu power if ever the need rises.

does that make sense?
