So i am adding a fan controller to my GF's computer which was purchased through DS as well and decided to get things ready with the fan hookups and whatnot. while adding the cpu rad fans to a splitter and plugging it in i decided to take a look into the v-core and overclock running.
A while back i noticed her v-core was very high so i lowered it and her system was running until it BSOD. so i went through it with patience and came to the conclusion i couldn't get lower then 1.33v at 4.1ghz.   this seems really high for this chip.   right now im running prime 95 with a 4.2 ghz @ 1.3v. (temps have reached 74)  its stable so far.  is it possible to be able to lower it over time?  or do you think this is just one of those crappy chips that need alot of volts to run an OC. im assuming everything was left alone in the bios with this chip other then the volts when DS overclocked it correct? or is there more in the settings that im missing.

Ivy Bridge tends to be more temperature limited than voltage limited. What is your goal Ghz?

I don't do oc'ing myself, but anything under 1.40 vcore should be fine from what I've seen DS do and other oc'ing forums.   Like you said, every chip has its own characteristics.

Ive just seen tons of forums where ppl are getting high oc's with 1.2's in the core. i understand that every chip is different just sucks. i also read that these chips shouldn't be high in the v-core for an everyday 24 hour use.
