I was going to buy the monitor separately but figure might as well give DS the whole package as it's got the 3 year warranty anyway. I was all over the place for price from $2K to $4K but think will go in the middle with $3K is this OK? What could I change and stay under $3K? thanks I want to play games as well as all around computer work (copy movies, surf the net etc). I plan to add a blue-ray burner on my own since the DS price is way high, I think I can get for a couple hundred less. Please let me know if my PC is OK especially.. motherboard power supply ram video card I have read the 4850 crossfire is a good price/performance. It seems like Nvidia price is kind of high. You can't have 4850 in CrossfireX with a nForce 780i. You need an intel chipset for CrossfireX (eg. Asus Rampage).

i'm trying to stay closer to $3K Would I notice that big a difference from the extra fast HD? I was tempted to get the raptor maybe I will. How much will I feel the quicker HD? Would I notice a difference in-game load time? Edited by rai-zero - 06 Sep 2008 at 6:06pm |

well, HDD speed will not affect your game to a high extent, so you can go with a regular drive.
power supply I think 1000 is good but to be sure call DS so we are certain for the price I gave you, you got liquid cooling, which in turn will give you higher OC speeds, which then in turn will give you a much better gaming experience how about this $3310: Chassis: Antec 900 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 1000W Corsair HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: Asus Rampage Formula (Chipset: Intel X48) (Supports CrossFire) System Memory: 4GB DDR2 OCZ at 800MHz Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 250GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x CrossFire Dual (ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Liquid Chilled FrostBite CPU Only Internal Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: Samsung 24 inch (Widescreen) (Black) (High-Performance Gaming Display) Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Microsoft Multimedia Desktop 2.0 (Multimedia Keyboard + Optical Wheel Mouse) Mouse: - No Thanks my keyboard comes with a mouse External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty Edited by DST4ME - 06 Sep 2008 at 6:22pm |

650W is fine for Crossfire. 750 if you want to be safe.
1000W if you want complete overkill to add another 2 GPUs in the future. Note: PC6400(800mhz) ram will only get your Q9450 to 3.2GHz while PC8500(1066mhz) ram will get it to 4.2GHz. So the intent of getting liquid cooling is to overclock, you need to skimp on something to get the faster ram. Edited by skyR - 06 Sep 2008 at 6:53pm |
