What is the deal with the new Intel chips. I am wanting to order a Level 3 Hailstorm but don't know if I need to hold up for the new generation of chips or if it already has it or what. I am assuming that it is Second generation but it is called 3930K which seems to be third generation...Are the six cores released on a different schedule? I know I am making a fool of myself but thought I should ask anyways.

Hi pcnoob.......the ivy bridge chips just being released are to replace the 4 core i7-2600k for example.   The 6 core ivy bridge-E chip to replace the present 6 core sandy bridge-E chip like the i7-3930k chip might be released much later this year or next.   The E for enhanced is the difference.     The 6 core 3930 you mentioned still beats the ivy bridge just coming out.       When ivy bridge E actually comes out is unknown.      Hope this helps.
